    CANCER

    Hi Guys
Got a phonecall saturday from a mate.
A great mate I lost contact with 7 or 8 years ago is very sick.
Finally tracked the lost mates wife down last nite.
It seems Julian has 12 weeks to go,he is on a weekly dose of cheemo and ever increasing doses of morphine. He wasnt able to chat last nite,it was cheemo day.
At least I may get to say goodbye to this mate, lost too many in the last 5 years without notice.
Off to see him friday, have been warned to expect a big shock.
He has pancreatic cancer and they cant do anything for him

No good mate, Cancer is an insidious beast.

I lost my Father to it last year, it is awful to watch a loved one being eaten up by it. Unfortunately Cancer rates are on the rise here in Australia as well.

Cancer is a terrible disease and research with international cooperation need to be improved.
Argentina and Cuba have developed a lung cancer vaccine and unfortunately because Cuba is involved it does not have a good exposure
Preliminary studies show that perhaps it is not 100% effective in advanced cases but help in the early stages
Politics should keep out in medical research.

17 -18 years ago I was in hospital myself with the possibility of pancreatic cancer being talked about. Needless to say the worst fears weren't realised. It was explained to me back then it was just about the nastiest form of cancer you can encounter. Little has changed since then.

How do you say goodbye, either as the one remaining behind or the one pushing on through. I don't know. Good friends are too good to lose.

That's shocking mate, you have my condolences
Saying Goodbye isn't something I've had to figure out as of yet, certainly not looking forward to learning.

Sorry to hear mate. It seems to be an ever increasing situation these days which affects both family and friends. I trust you will be able to chat with your mate and say your goodbyes.

My condolences as well Andy. Pancreatic cancer is one of the worst. A good friends mum was diagnosed at Christmas just past and she passed away 3months later.

Any way enjoy your time with him and to the extent possible celebrate the good times and memories.

    Take care

    Steve
