Just came back from Bluesfest in Byron and heard some great bands and artists.

If you get a chance go on-line and check out the following if you are not already familiar with them:

Charles Bradley and The Extraordinaires - This guy is a resurrection of James Brown. Great stage presence and leaves nothing in the tank when delivering his brand of soul music

Nicki Hill - This blues and rock singer has a voice like honey poured over hot gravel. Very powerful yet soulful

Beth Hart - Now this lady can sing

The Bella Reunion - Great blues band with a top front man Alan Boyle

Melbourne Ska Orchestra - Highlight of the festival for me. Best stage show and had 10,000 in the Crossroads tent dancing and laughing

John Mayall - at 82 years of age he still has it and put on a blues performance that was captivating.

Trombone Shorty - Great show and had the crowd eating out of his hand

Other acts like The Gypsy Kings, Counting Crows and Paul Kelly were all great as well.

On another note. I saw more Defenders in Byron Bay than anywhere else in Australia, they were everywhere. 110 90 and 130s - mostly Pumas.

If you get the chance to go to Bluesfest do it. Its a great 5 days of music and fun - apart from the occasional Wombat but with 100,000 + over the weekend the odds are there will be a few in amongst them.

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

This is a sad tale of an all too familar story... Servicemen and women who return to their families sporting wounds that sometimes aren't visible...
