Thanks for the offer I would have taken you up on it but while I didn't end up with what I wanted I did end up with a pair of lights.

The long story is that what I bought was a pair of Hella Rallye ff 4000 compacts with an HID kit which was supposed to be internally mounted. What was sent was a set of the full size 4000's which I didn't want, so those were sent back and then the HID kit wouldn't fit inside as advertised so initially after telling me I was doing it wrong they finally admitted it didn't fit and suggested sticking the ballast to the back of the lights which was not an acceptable solution so they agreed to refund me the cost of the HID kit on return leaving me with the lights and promised me a special set of 100w + 20% $35 bulbs which ended up being a pretty bog standard set of 100w no name bulbs probably worth about $10-15.

They probably stuffed up in that the ballasts probably fit in the full sized lights but not the compacts. No consolation I know but probably the source of their stuff up.

    Really??

Always a story within a story with this type of post.
It was easy to check this transaction on ebay with the information given - so much for naming and shaming.
The vendor did not shroud himself with glory on this transaction, but appeared to do something to make amends.
The product description for these lights clearly states that it is an externally mounted ballast, so to some extent, the OP has to shoulder some responsibility for the impasse.
I have not purchased from this seller, but see that they have a lot of transactions, and obviously want to protect their feedback. A couple of negatives will not undermine their rating much - it is what they do to rectify mistakes that matter.
If they had not stuffed up by sending the full size lights, I wonder what the email exchanges between vendor and client would have been?
What is wrong with external ballasts anyhow. They certainly run cooler that way.
For the price paid, I say lighten up!!!

Sorry but just not true. He may now have changed the listing now but the product as listed when I ordered it specifically stated that the ballasts were all internally mounted which I prefer, however if I wanted to order externally mounted ones I would have ordered different ones, as these ones were not well designed for external mounting. They very clearly stuffed up twice, I am perfectly willing to take the blame if I ordered the wrong thing but I didn't and I don't think it is in any way reasonable to expect that the buyer pays return freight when the seller stuffs up. And on several ocassions he lied to me during the transactions and responded very sarcastically to me. In the end I did not get a bargain at all particularly when you factor in the time I wasted going back and forth to the post office and trying to install a kit which was never going to fit.

So I am happy to warn others that there are other better vendors out there. In my experience most ebay vendors care about their businesses and respond very well to customer complaints, I am perfectly willing to forgive stuff ups it happens to all of us, but as you rightly said it is about how you deal with it. This guy dealt with it very badly indeed.

That's probably true but the ad for the compacts very clearly stated that there fitted internally, and when I called him he told me I was doing it wrong and that they had had many customers for Tse with no complaints. He then said he would fit a set and send me bette instructions the next day. When he didn't get back to me I called him again and he admitted that they had tried and they didn't fit.

BTW the other things I setup have been complained about, in relation to the other thing.
