In their defence, they could not see Alex had bent his head under. That sort of tackle is done hundreds of times in a weekend. Rugby League lost it's way when wrestling started to be coached. Chicken wings, judo holds on arms, wrestling, all tactics designed to slow down the play the ball, & give the defensive line time to reset. The NRL has to ensure coaches stop coaching those tactics, and referees must call held earlier, and penalise teams who continue with the tackle. Hysterical calls for massive penalties just shows a complete lack of understanding of the game, and are not helpful to any one. I think out of consideration for the young man given 7 weeks, for doing what he had been coached to do,[ and what happens every week, every game], people should keep those opinions to themselves. Direct your spite to the NRL and the coaches. They must change this aspect of rugby league. Bob
