This photo being a bit dark makes it very hard to have a good look at your bar, bit from what I can see it is definitely illegal.

Well yes it is about the government trying to control everyone as most I highly disagree with a lot of decisions that the government make!
It is known that the Australian government don't stop at just 1 law they keep on nibbling away until nothing is left...gun laws was a prime example which even as a kid I stood up and made my vote count when it came to bringing in gun laws as I believed it was a load of crap and look what's happening now ya can't even pick up a bloody pocket knife without being classed as a criminal or fined yet the drugos seem to get away with driving cars and reproducing...it comes down to once again let them take an inch and they'll take a mile...

As for the bar well as I said I have it there for a purpose and without beating around the bush it's basically there to splat anything that gets in front of me (preferably not a cow though )

Jonesfam I agree out there near normanton Julia creek area the stretches in between civilisation are a fair distance and as you mentioned the roos and bush turkeys do frequent the roads of a night and a bar is crutial but travelling at a speed to avoid hitting 1 you will take days just to get the shopping

Badly bent the lower section of the bar and made me wan a 5 poster.

Apparently (Rumour alert) TUFF fought and won against the cops who were busting folks, at least in Qld?

From personal experience, if you need one, you should have one.

Keyboard warrior housewives are usually the only ones against them.
They detail their battle with the law in NSW on the front page of their website.

Personally, I can't see any issue with the bar shown on the Toyota in this post. It suits the vehicle, and given what he uses it for and the area it is used in, I'd be doing something similar if it was my vehicle.

Not a big fan of the same size / style bars on Falcadore utes - but whatever floats your boat I suppose. It's not me that has to pay for the regular replacement of steering and suspension components, and front tyres.

Different thing if the vehicle is prodominantly driven in the cities though. You don't need something that big to protect your vehicle from shopping centre carpark bumps.

With what I use my vehicle for and where I drive it, a bullbar is a necessity but I don't need anything as big as a Tuff Bar - anyway I don't think it would look right on a D4.
    Cheers .........

    Pretty much sums it up.

"As set out in our response to the Land article of 14 August 2014, the suggestion that bullbars are non-compliant because they have five posts is simply wrong. There is nothing whatsoever in Australian Standard AS4876.1-2002, the relevant Australian Design Rules or any of the applicable legislative provisions which prohibits five post bull bars."

After seeing a better pic it is definitely illegal. Having said that I also do not have a problem with it personally.

Bullbar laws, tolerances and conditions for NSW, the law itself is not new, but they have now given the tolerances allowed.
