Some more on the reason for the denial of the Mosque. It was too close to a residential area, & their devotion starts at 4.00 am. Council says it will consider another application, in a different area. Also, news just in, Qld. Rail is removing or welding shut all rubbish bins on stations in the CBD. on account of the risk level moved to high. Bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

I'm sure you are right about that. But, who are there wanting to run their state?

We're starting to get onto culture-wars here.

The multi-cultural west may say that they are cool with other cultures but other cultures are not cool with ours.

Political Islam is doing at tax-payer expense what it would have taken many bloody swords to have accomplished in days gone by.

    Where's it gonna end?

Haven't heard. It's a real can of worms. On the one hand, we are a multi cultural Nation, with religious freedom enshrined in our culture. On the other, radical Islam has everyone stirred up. The two[ I think ] Mosques up here have open house for all Australians, this weekend to see just what goes on, & try to allay fears of the unknown. It doesn't help when moderate Muslims aren't shouting from the rooftops their complete rejection of the radical doctrine. Another bit of news, Service men & women have been told not to wear their uniforms in public, after an Officer was confronted in Sydney by a group of young Muslims, and abused. [ This happened during the Vietnam War, too, but by ordinary Australians]. This is a problem that will not go away, and has to be handled carefully.

Another worry is, do we know what is being taught in the Muslim schools, Madrassas, I think they are called. It would be easy to over react, to let emotions run wild, I just hope our Government knows what it is doing. I certainly have no answers, Bob

    Question

"Not To wear Their Uniforms In Public"?
Not saying that's not been said Bob, not saying that at all, but jeez, what are we coming to,....that proud Aussies can't wear their uniforms because of,.....?
Problem is, where these people come from, if they threatened a member of the military, they'd be severely punished, but over here on the other hand, what happens?....normally nothing, so this sort of stuff keeps happening.

I have experienced a Mosque in the suburb I live in.

Used to be a big Greek, Italian & Australian suburb.

Now you can't get bacon in the KFC.
    Cheers

With all due respect, your comments show you don't know what Islam is about. Islam IS the issue. The political goal of Islam is that the world becomes Islam- then there will be peace.
Unfortunately, even then there is no peace, Syria and Iraq are a case in point. Shiite V Sunni V Kurd V whatever other tribe takes a different side.

When its an attack by Israel against the Hamas, its an attack on all Islam, ditto any action by the U.S against ISIS, yet in the last 12 months more lives have been lost in Syria alone, than the whole Israel v Palestine conflict- 66 years since Israel was made a nation. Where are the headlines for that? In the west bank, a school gets hit by either a Israeli rocket or Hamas misfire and its on every channel, the secondary if at all reported news is Syria bombing their own towns and villages.

Again ill ask as it was raised, in WW2 hitler used religion as a reason to attempt mass genocide and others of a similar religion joined their countries defence forces and went to war and died to stop him, why are the "moderates" not doing that now?
Are they in fear of their families lives if the fundamentalists find out?
