I have to agree with those comments, but as I have repeated many times in the past, I for one do not get involved in slanging matches with opinionated people. I get out the forum what I want to get out of it and as an extra I have met some very nice people in V8Ian, JerryD, LionelG, Pop058 and Banjo just to name a few.
But, I see your point of view and feel that what you have mentioned may be off putting to other "Newbies" as well.Good luck for the future, mate!!!
ps. Forgot the HoHars......sorry Carolyn.

There is a lot more to this forum than General Chat, in fact I consider it to be one of the least interesting sections in the forum. I can go months without even looking in it even though I visit the forum daily.
The reason being there is so much great content in so many other sections that I have a real interest in. It will be a shame if you decide to leave Yeats but at least you have till 1st January to properly find your way around the place and find out if the forum is for you or not.
Cheers,
Terry

Maybe it's different for me, I have lived in remote places most of the time I have been on this forum so it is sort of part of my social outings to visit the forum. My interaction with the "Real World".
I had been a member for at least 2 or 3 years before it dawned on me that some poor soul was probably spending a lot of time & money so that I could read both useful & inane comments & make mostly inane comments to people with at least 1 similar interest to myself. So I decided that I should contribute some small amount so I could continue to be inane & have assistance with keeping my sanity on those boring evenings with only reality TV on (Talk about Inane).
And yes, like all of us at times I find some threads & the lines that they take can get a bit silly but who doesn't get silly form time to time. Read them or not (I do because I'm amazed by how stirred up some people get & it's entertaining) comment or not ( I usually don't) there are plenty of LR related threads & the others are like being at a social event, lots of different opinions.
Dave & folks, you gotta do what you gotta do. Keep the place going please & I hope that it comes to the stage where you can enjoy running the forum & not stress over how to keep it going.
Thanks & Regards
Jones
I must admit, I have wondered if there was a way of creating another "New Posts" button that excludes "General Chat".
Good idea, or great idea?![]()
One problem with excluding "General Chat" is that there seem to be a few people who know very well that their post should go in one of the sub-forums, but they deliberately put in "General Chat" because they believe more people will see it there.
So it might sit there for some time before some sharp eyed mod spots it and moves it to where it should be.
Anyway. there is a lot of land Rover related info in "General Chat".

Hi Dave (et al)
The proposed changes work for me and I have no argument what so ever with the funding model.
The forum is a valuable resource and I can also echo the comment of other posters that it is a cut above a lot of other forums I have visited. People here are generally more polite and respectful, plus the swear filter is particularly effective
So to you and the mods keep up the good work and I'll be renewing my sub for another year when it comes due.
Cheers
Steve
