No explanatory signage, no idea what it all means. SA, 1/2 an hour and 10 years behind the rest of the country. . Sorry crow eaters, probably some ones good idea, just a pity they didn't share it.

I just assumed it was a desperate attempt by the SA authorities to reduce the number of visiting Mexicans from crashing head on into each other, they'd rather they do it on their side of the border...

I am assuming that this is in Vic in which case you ignore both and the last posted limit is what is legal.

On a Vicroads controled road and this is usually any road that does not come under council jurisdiction, any speed limit change must be advised by a speed limit sign on both sides of the road.

This also includes road work speed limits. And if the road work sign is a multi information sign, the speed part of the sign must be at the top and closest to the road.

If any of the above is not adhered to the limit on the sign is not enforceable.

    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Opps they stuffed that didnt they?

The speed limit post there is unenforcable as a result, whatever previous speed is likely to stand BUT BEWARE..
If roadworks etc are in progress and you belt through you can still be slapped with a stinger or court appearance for manner dangerous or due care!!

There are set rules re these signs and if breached they void the limit posted..

While we are at it though:
ARRs state 25kmph MAXIMUM past any emergency vehicle... that applies to both sides of the road (eg on west side if your travelling east) and the zone is deliniated by any red/blue lights active, you must therefore travel 25K MAX until past all emergency vehicles etc at scene..
(its not that hard and if you could watch the road instead of rubbernecking or being a ghoul and videoing accidents on the phone etc, that'd be nice too!!)

    Cheers guys

Plenty of signage at Both ends of that section of highway clearly stating what it is!
Wide centre line initiative. If you didn't see the signs - best check you prescription

Plenty of variations on the same scheme over here in the west too.

Possibly catering for visiting Mexicans ..................

Perhaps they need bigger signs or additional explanatory signs along the way eg. if you have come in from a side road or have missed one at the start?

I would have just picked 80kmh. Hard to argue with the sign.

Now what? This was in NT
