If we all start riding around wearing one of these people are going to think its because our Landies have broken down. :p

If we all start riding around wearing one of these people are going to think its because our Landies have broken down. :p
That might explain why I've seen quite a few cyclists wearing these lately. :p:p:p

Not that this has not all been said before in this thread.

Note in this one where it says the motorist is at fault 87% of the time.

The guardian link goes,nowhere?
This one from Monash says motorists involved in about 13% of crashes and blamed for 24%.

Ahh found it. What an in depth study,,,Rofl. 54" incidents" and 3 actual accidents and 6 near misses gives a 87% outcome. What selective horse manure. Basically a few people wearing cameras riding around taxi and delivery drivers.
It looks even more like fertiliser when another study from the same university says the total opposite, with far more participants, actual accidents and not near misses. Of the 150+ accidents in the other monash study that where treated in hospitals, only 13% about 23 where with cars. The other 127 where with themselves, dodging cars( about 10%) or just simply falling off
Well, after over 10 years riding to/from work, it was my turn to get collected by a car.
Last Tuesday I was riding to work and I came around a corner in a quiet street and a car just pulled out a driveway on my left and I hit the back of the car trying to get out of the way. It's the first stack I have had where I have hit my face. All my years of mtb'ing never have I hit my face. First reaction was are my teeth ok cause I could taste blood, but it was from a split chin.
The car did not stop to help me.....not did another car that went around me whilst I was trying to get back onto my feet. I managed to get myself to work, but was sent straight to hospital as the girls at work didn't want me bleeding on the floor.
I end up with a chipped bone in my wrist, stitches in my chin and gashes on my hip and elbow. Was sore for a few days.
What really annoys me is the blatant disregard for a person on a bike. When I ride I do the right thing and stay out of way of cars. I go flat out and keep up with traffic. When I get to work I am more mentally exhausted from concentrating on everything around me rather then physically exhausted.
I am not sure what the solution is apart from tolerance and patience. I get really annoyed by so many cyclists that have a total disregard for road rules and putting their own lives in danger. Roads are designed for cars and cyclists need to be aware of that.
I am back riding this week, but rather cautiously.
"many cyclists that have a total disregard for road rules and putting their own lives in danger"
This is what really annoys me, from boys on bikes to couriers to the lycra lot, very few of them seem to have any regard for their own or others safety.
When I working years ago as a bus driver one loud mouthed oaf rode one of those low rider things at warp speed around the Swan River so called shared pathway .....his advice to pedestrians of his approach...."Get out the ****** way"! at the top of his voice.
He drove a bus in much the same fashion.
When they get off their bikes and into cars with bike stowed on top they change again into uncaring inconsiderate louts with no regard for others on bikes!
And watch out when the Tour de France is on as they really go mad with their desire to show other road users how tough and fit they are. :o
It seems absolutely no one has any thought whatsoever for anyone else these days, no courtesy, consideration or care taken.
That shows weakness and heaven forbid that they are seen to be that.

Sorry to hear you were knocked off your bike, i hope you got their details.
I went for an early morning ride this morning and a watched a car deliberately run a red light. He stopped waited and must have thought stuff it ill just go?? no sooner had he left the lights changed to orange in my direction so he saved himself probably 30 seconds.
I love the coppers reaction to being knocked off his bike, he looks like he wants to kick the poo out of him
i do like this one
