Yes Roger, the photo looks west, the peak centre left of the pic is BlackJack, if anyone wants to look it up, the crash site is close to Shortridge Ck (named after the pilot) which is the valley 2nd from the photo point immediately below BlackJack. The photo was taken from close to the Cabramurra To Khancoban Rd from a point west of Jagungal.

One of the questions arising from the crash is whether there were some survivors.

The incident ultimately lead to the failure of Kingsford-Smith's airline and I think, his ultimate demise chasing dwindling publicity.

Same area but from a different direction (west) was in post #2869 and following last month.

What a coincidence - that was a time that I missed for a while

Don't hold back 87County, it's always good to see things from a different perspective. Although, it was your clue that gave it away.

24 hours since posting and nil response so it must be time for an extra clue .................... there are only three places where it is currently possible to cross this river and the other two are bridges.

Another 24 hours and still no response???

This is one of Australia's iconic rivers and combined with the previous clue shouldn't be too difficult to crack.

I don't know how iconic the Hawkesbury is but that's what it looks like to me.

Not The Hawkesbury, you need to head south and cross the border. Although the headwaters of the river are in NSW.
Once you get the correct river it shouldn't be difficult (using previous clues) to get the location.

I'm tempted to say its the Murray on that note, but I don't recall cliffs like that, that is, not anywhere I've seen anyway.
Don't know much about the Lachlan, but I'm thinking it may be that, although where exactly, I have no idea,,,

More "googling" required me thinks.

Ok, scrap that last post.
It'd have to be the Murrumbidgee, and I'm thinking with the water clear/smallish like that, it'll have to be up above the Yass area, but that's about as much as I can work out.
