That exactly matches the description of my 101... Threads that go off topic - here and other forums.

Is that, or is it not - a box on wheels? At a comfortable cruising speed of 85KPH I'd probably call it slow. It's a 1976 Vintage so at over 40 you'd have to say it's getting on a bit too. Threads that go off topic - here and other forums.

So, 3 out of 3 based on your description. Threads that go off topic - here and other forums.

The Combi is also worth a shed load more than my 101 as well.

There was nothing more demoralising than piloting your series Land Rover to your favourite bush camp and finding an old bloke in a Kombi camper already set up and brewing his coffee. I have fond memories of watching Big Bro's bus with the front wheel a metre off the ground but it still had traction at the business end.

    Hi,
With the right training, they could jump logs.
    Cheers

There there now, don't feel too badly.

But but but, they were never designed to be speed machines but to get the necessary equipment to inaccessible locations whether it was Artillery, Signals, Medical, or a Section of Troops etc.

    Try that with a Combi.

My money is on the 101.

As mentioned, you'd be surprised where a Combi van can get to - they go a lot further than most would give them credit for, but yes, I don't think they'd go quite as far as a 101.

I wish there was a Kombi in my superannuation portfolio.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

One of my brothers drove an old VW beetle all over the countryside, the first car he had.

It definitely had quite a bit of off road ability and was very reliable.

After two Cape trip adventures in the mid 80's,and they were adventures in those days,he sold it for a SWB Series 3.

After two more trips around the country, including working in Weipa for 5 yrs,he sold it for an '83 classic. It had done a lot of beach work, apart from a very rusty chassis was in reasonable condition.

I will never forget the weekend we changed the chassis on the classic, much to our mothers dismay,in her carport
