Genuine Land Rover parts from CHINA

We received some Genuine Land Rover seals today, and Made in China is on the official label.
Wonder how customers are going to respond as a lot don't. like things Chinese made.
    Brands like TRW now Taiwan,
a lot of your Brake pads made in India but boxed in other countries, all the places with Cheap labour are being used by the big companies.
Seems it's not only Australia that was sold out in the manufacturing, it's happening in the UK and other countries also.
    Cheers, Mario

Loan Rangie, Yep, I think a lot of Genuine part buyers would be surprised where stuff is coming from. The Genuine 300TDi rear crank seal is made in India printed on the Genuine label, the Aftermarket one comes out of the same factory and actually looks Identical to the Genuine part, but a price difference!
I had once customer adamant that he didn't want stuff form Asia, so I had to tell him that some of the Genuine parts he wanted were in fact made in Asia. What now? he said now since Indian Tata owns Land Rover he will never buy another Land Rover Again!
We'll he'll have trouble getting any vehicle that doesn't have some Asian componentry. Even some vehicles manufacturers are getting their assembly of vehicles done in Thailand and South Africa.
The whole parts game has changed with cheap labour countries.

Not really but its problematic working out which suppliers are sourcing quality parts without being a guinea pig for cheap crap.

Most of the utes and many of the small cars we buy here are made in Thailand.
The quality thing isn't about where it's made, its about what standard the factory is set up to produce.

Absolutely. The real issue is who is doing the quality control the Chinese or the named European manufacturer. BMW have been making components in China for years, but retain quality control themselves.

Land Rover parts made in India. Remember, Jaguar Land Rover is an Indian (Tata) owned company and have at an assembly plant in Pune, India.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

I'm confident that Land Rover will have the QA/QC aspects well under control for any parts they have made on their behalf by Chinese manufacturers. But will that extend to "OEM" quality parts from the same manufacturer? That I'm not sure about and time will tell. We all trust VDO, Valeo, Siemens etc to make a quality OEM part.

Still China is in the same position now as Germany after the First World War (jerry built), Japan in the 50/60’s and Korea in the 80’s.

    Cheers

    Steve
