Now this should be a fairer comparison to a defender.
Mahindra Thar hardcore off-roader could be coming to Australia
If it is as price competitive as the ute it will be a good thing.
Cheers Hall
Also, in Australia it is not road legal....
...and it's fugly.
Hey Chris, great to hear you're impressed with the Mahindra and thanks for the great write up. Intriguing. (all they need is a decent exterior/interior designer) 😜
PS: by the way, I love the way my Defenders hug me close on the right side. Excellent for long drives and very steady for off-roading. It's a shame to hear Mahindra doesn't have this excellent design feature and is more spacious.

Make it road legal then it would be a serious contender for my wallets contents.
It looks a lot more comfortable than the ageing Suzi Sierras running around on some properties.

Like the outgoing defender it would need a complete redesign to be road legal so it wont happen. Also for some reason they put the gutless 2.5 motor in it not the decent 88kw one that is in the 2.2 that is in the pik up. I too like its simplicity, it would be great if they make one that will be road legal here, but as far as I know there are no plan to do so which is a pity as I would be interested.
