    The bum appears to float abit but I would attribute that to the buoyancy provided by the fuel tank and not the tailgate seals.

    No. I have one down the back so like the one in this vid I would have gone and checked it was still there, but LHD said it wasn't. Pretty sure it would flood as well, but perhaps a little slower?
