This was Chrysler's way of distracting you from the fact that you were driving an enormous barge and there was a corner approaching that you would probably fail to negotiate. Given that the 265 or 318 lumps could actually lift the thing's skirts the ensuing disaster could be biblical.
Don't get me wrong. I once had a VE 318 wagon. It was built like a tank, and never let me down. But the CM? They were all following the Yanks, and the things just became too big. Loved my 351 XA though.
