The Kea, the NZ mountain parrot are notorious for curiosity and the damage they can do. This one stole a GoPro.
There is a news story here - Kea steals GoPro from hut on Kepler Track, ends up making stunning short film | Stuff.co.nz - I read this and tracked the vid down on YT to post up here. I once made the mistake in the very distant past of parking a vehicle on a South Island mountain pass road and gone for a walk into the hills only to return hours later to the window rubbers torn off the van and a nolathane surfboard legrope diced to pea-size chunks and the roof rack foam completely stripped off. The trail of debris was windblown 40m or so behind the van. Kea attack!

Was there just just at the end of January 2020 to see the endangered parrot criminal.
Distant memories indeed. How the world looked so different at the start of 2020.
Yes, poor sods are their own undoing. Lead poisoning is causing issues with them as they dismantle lead roofing nails and flashings. They have made the news over the last few years for their antics but it is now costing them dearly it seems.
Kea lead poisoning epidemic in Arthur'''s Pass worrying environmentalists | Stuff.co.nz - poor wee sods, cannot help themselves. I recall research finding them to be perhaps the most intelligent parrot in the world but that counts for nought if they cannot resist chewing on lead.
Some not as smart as others
When at primary school there was one kid who was not allowed chewing gum. Being a kid and wanting to feel was fitting in with what everyone else was doing looked around and found something else to chew so was part of the group. Not sure lead air rifle pellets were really a better alternative to gum. Being lead were soft and could be chewed and spat out when finished like gum. Probably lucky for him the fad ended fairly quickly
