    They were sold off!
They were very large parcels of prime real-estate that the urban encroachment had surrounded over time. Institutions such as "Lakeside" in Ballarat, "Mont Park" and "Larundel" in Melbourne, etc.

The cops did shoot him in the arm. He was doing burnouts in the street. I think the cops did fine. It's just very sad that someone gets to the state that they do something like this.

Death toll now 5 and I have just heard that the perp was on bail.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Yes - I read yesterday that the perp was on bail (don't know what the charges were, but apparently violence related). I also read that the bail application had been opposed by the Vic Police ...........................

So, once again, a member of our ****weak judiciary has allowed a known, violent criminal back onto the streets in spite of advice to the contrary by the people who are in the best position to provide such advice.

It's about time these parasitic arseholes were held accountable for their decisions / actions.
    Cheers .........

I've stayed out of this thread, until now, but via my "Law & Order" thread, some would know how I feel about events like this, and I firstly need to pass on my respects to anyone affected by this tragedy.
Were it not for "do-gooder" magistrates, bail justices or whatever titled "?fficials" were involved in letting this "person" still be on the streets, despite bail being vigorously opposed by the Police, this would not have happened.
I won't hear one bad word against Police in this instance. They have the same- minded "do-gooders" in the force to answer to. No wonder they didn't take tougher/quicker action when the guy started doing burnouts,...had they rammed him, caused damage/injury etc, those members would've been crucified. Ask any highway patrol officer how he has to "justify" his actions, if He attempts a pursuit.
Who knows whether this will be a wake up call to those that have the power?..I hope so, but I'm not confident.

Yep, Brian, I understand where you are coming from.
I suspect/hope the anuses of a few judges will get reamed over this. Yes, he was out on bail. The judiciary are supposed to reflect community standards and attitudes. They are not. They are reflecting the standards and attitudes of very vocal and/or powerful minorities. They're letting these tossers free with little more than a slap on the wrist.
The one good thing, if there is such a thing as good in this sorry incident, is that the rising number of violent crime incidents in Melbourne that are being reported world wide is a source of embarrassment for the powers that be. They are beginning listen to what what the wider Melbourne community are discussing. One violent offender has had his visa canceled and been deported to NZ. A few Apex gang members are in the process of having their visas canceled.
Let's hope this fellow gets locked up for good. He can share a cell with Julian Knight.

Or living under bridges or in parks begging on the street in filthy clothes with numerous other medical conditions.

The Richmond report was a sad indictment to the goody too shoes "they have rights" brigade. They will be the same ones that come out and defend this arsehole and we as tax payers have to put him up and feed and cloth this bloke for a very long time. I would prefer the money they are going to spend keeping this dickhead out of society be spent on cancer research or some other positive benefit to society.

The cop who took him down should have shot him in the head and done society a favour. I feel sorry for cops trying to do their job, which they had done with this bloke only to have the bleeding heart lawyers argue he should be given bail and then the out of touch judiciary granting him bail.

Every time I see cops stopping to question someone, some other idiot has their phone out filming it. They are now scared to do anything else they have to spend the next two shifts doing reports to justify their actions. No wonder so many of them leave the force disillusioned

By that reasoning we should just round up everyone who would once have been in the funny farm and simply dispose of them. Then wait for the Ice dealers to produce more for them.
The Asylums weren't shut and sold off because do-gooders don't like seeing people locked up, so much as because, tight arsed bastard taxpayers didn't want to pay for them. Mental health in general, is woefully underfunded. Can we really blame the Looneys if we totally ignore them until they bight us on the arse?
    Cheers, Billy.

I have no issue with "loonies"...
I have an issue with Criminal/Dangerous "loonies"

If a Dog had run down that street and bitten anyone, once captured we all know what the outcome would be.

We should treat the treatable, the vulnerable and those with challenges. Care for the harmless but challenged people who will never be able to be independent...

And put the Rabid ones down...

I'm with you in sentiment Tombie but I couldn't pull the trigger and I doubt you could either.
