Anthabasca glacier. Part of one of the largest glaciers in Northern America. What an experience. The buses that take you onto the glacier are beasts. They were specially designed for the tour company. Top speed of 18km/h. Able to ascend/descend 36 degrees. Part of the approach was a long hill of 32 degrees. That is steep. The glacier was wonderful. I now am a water snob and don't want to drink any water that's not straight off a glacier. Being mid summer there is a lot of run off. It tastes beautiful. I filled my camelback and fortunately as the valve appears a nit manky I haven't had to share any of it.
The wind was howling, but apparently it was only two degrees. I was in shorts and won't pretend I was warm, but after 40 of walking around it was only my fingers that were really cold. I had put them in the water a fair bit.

The Icefields skywalk. This was especially fascinating as a tv nerd I have watched the megastructures (or equivalent) show on the construction of this. Sticks way out , is 950feet above the ground and uses a lot of glass in construction. Again. Amazing. And not just for the views.

Shorts and snow are not a good combination.

I've recently joined the modern people and have joined instagram. My first foray, besides aulro into social media. I mostly follow Kelsey's fellow triathletes. Some of them seem to take pride in posting a photo of a piece of lettuce or some form of healthy meal. As if I'm impressed?
Anyway after a solid 17 hour driving stint yesterday my wife (she does have her moments of being nice to me) got me a dozen of my newest best friends to socialise with.

Had a wonderful grumpy evening with my own company (and said best friends) relaxing at our BnB

And when not on iPad updating aulro and instagram was admiring this view

The road trip is over. Kelsey did do a mountain bike ride in the Rockies. But in honesty it was more for fun than a training exercise. And to be able to tell her MTB mates that she's ridden in bear country. No joke, it's a real worry and they are around. We saw one ourselves right next to the road.
But back in Penticton today it was back to serious stuff. Team briefing and then she was into the lake for a training swim. Another at 6am tomorrow. Had a 5 km run this afternoon and after putting the bike back together a very short ride.

As it's now back to a somewhat normal routine updates might not be that frequent til race day. I hope you all have enjoyed the updates so far.

Make sure you get plenty more of the local culture too. (Read: local beers).
