Well, there goes the rejuvenation of drive-in theatres!

    Lightbulb

Although, there’s now sufficient Charge stations that we can comfortably go from Whyalla to Any point east..
As long as nobody else has the same idea at the same time.
Take a good book and a coffee machine.
Idea maybe they should include a coffee machine with every electric car.

Has anyone given any thought about the potential for fire and even explosions when these electric cars age and the batteries and wiring inevitably gets fatigued /worn, Especially when they are getting recharged?

    The Tesla car is different.
Say if you drive the Tesla and involved in a car crash. Tesla will know exactly when you pressed the brake, if your hands were on the steering wheel, the speed and direction the car was pointing at.

And also (I guess) whether you were having a fight with your passengers (wife maybe) or you were using the center console to read the news or making a phone call.

These data will serve the authority and insurance company. NRMA will be interested purchasing your driving style information to accurately quote your insurance premium.

Also your travel log will be particularly useful for marketing purposes. These data can be used to model human behavior of certain sub group. Say if you keep driving to Bunnings, hey maybe Amazon should send you some emails promoting milffukee tools...

One of my friend is in the business of data mining...Mind you he is in another country where there is little privacy protection.... Companies collected user data. They then de-identify and sell them to data mining company. Data mining company clean and rearrange the data. Maybe they will link similar data together, do some dodgy stuffs and sell them on global market.

De-identify means the ID and some other data are removed so no one can guess who is in the data...

But the reality is it not very difficult to guess who you really are based on age group, suburb , income , car you drive , maybe medical history linked with purchasing history. Maybe your flight ticket purchase history showing you travel to England on a regular basis...

Maybe I am a little paranoid! Haha
I do doable the location service on my phone when I don't need it..

    Cheers

I see no issues with that.. claiming to be a safe driver when not being one is fraud - and the reason insurance costs are so high...

You do know Airbags record crash data also?

As for data mining. It’s enormous.. very big business (FB and Google are the kings of it).

That targeted marketing that people seem to complain about has actually saved me money... I spent a long time researching something one week; only to get a far more competitive deal sent to me!

The benefits outweigh the risks. And if you think privacy exists in this age - you’re delusional...

You think killing location services stops your location being known?

Your location, journeys etc are already recorded..
