Sounds like another good reason to can the Sinney NYE fireworks once & for all.
How many would YTB cockies would you like?
As many as you can spare svp.Post Code 5152
300? Now that would be something to see (if one is not a farmer, obviously.)
I keep telling 'er indoors they are just late, but deep down I suspect something more sinister has occurred, & also maybe we are now on the Z List & not the A list anymore? Only a few Pine Trees around here but The Grampians might be a nice place for a sojourn these days. I hope so.

They don't worry farmers that I'm aware of, unlike their white relos.
Around here they only eat nuts and seeds from trees like radiata, hakeas, banksias etc. Unmistakeable carpet of cones ripped to bits under trees they've been dining at. Extremely rare to see them actually on the ground.
My bet where you are is that a pine plantation or two has been harvested nearby (can happen overnight) and there is no reason for them to hang around.
cheers, DL
Wonder how skewed statistics will be for my area.
AWS has been offline since 27/12 and it’s been pretty interesting.
Power out SA to 10,000 homes+
A rellie is of to NSW start a new Sydney desalination plant expansion. My sister is grumpy. Had a chat re water inflows over the last 10 years at xmas with him. He pointed out the company is likely to be very busy not just in NSW.
Melbourne water prices up thanks to biggest order of desalinated water is old news but not everyone may have noticed.
"It may seem paradoxical that we are both seeing our water supplies dry up while some regions are also experiencing heavy and unmanageable levels of rainfall, but the fact is that dramatic weather events like these put more stress on our systems because they happen in a less predictable and manageable fashion. Water supplies like rivers and lakes require consistent levels of rainfall to prevent flooding from excess water and to keep the water source from drying out. It is entirely possible — in fact, it appears to be the case — that the planet will continue to experience extreme weather events like massive downpours and devastating droughts, both of which result in their own unique challenges for regions that face these wild and unpredictable swings" Australian Water Crisis
Not certain on the web site I cut that from but it seems valid data or opinion
No single issue can be directly attributed to climate change Bush fires in wet temperate rain forests and tundra which have not burnt for several thousand years or more might be attributable to climate change. I think it is highly likely to be.
Not bad being a primary producer is it?
Around here everything like that is netted.
I can remember 40+ years ago in the Herald there was a story about a bloke from maybe Horsham? where I was born getting pinged () big time for stealing eggs and chicks and 'exporting' them to Asia for massive money.
From memory he got something like 10 years. Some retiree on here could look this up.
It took years for me to be able to see some in the Grampians for the first time. Fantastic birds, now common here.
If anyone wants to see them in the Gramps try the Vic Valley around Mair Tk, Henham Tk in May.
cheers, DL
Here it is the Cherries that are mainly netted. One grower recently paid $50,000 for one garden to be netted.
One of my younger bros got done for Egg theft & export. Stupid bastard he was !
Mind you he wasn't exactly the sharpest knife in the box to begin with but he got in with a rum crowd.
