A few years ago we approached the CFS to try & arrange a "cool" Burn of a couple of hectares of native bush (which had not seen a fire through it since the 1983 Ash Wednesday) before summer arrived & was met with, it needs a lot of paperwork & approvals etc, labour was in short supply to do it, blah blah blah.

In short, it was too bloody hard for someone to get off their shiny arse & initiate it, but NP were & still do have pre- summer burn offs which we suffer the smoke from as any Asthma sufferer will tell you.
It nearly killed my wife (sorry, 'er indoors ) The point on that day was no notice appeared that we saw or heard & people who leave home for work & had left windows ajar to air the house from the previous days heat copped the full brunt of it when they got home to a house full of smoke, so tough luck if they had Asthma. Suddenly their fire was up & running with immediate dark smoke drifting straight down the valley to our house.

Seems they can't put it over the Mobile Phone... "There is a fire in your area" system as that is only for Emergency use. Wackos! Change the bloody message & get it incorporated, idiots. In this day & age it can't be that difficult, it just needs the will to do it..

So in short, the heavy litter fall hasn't been burnt in 30 odd years & is waiting for a bloody neer do well to chuck a match or other incendiary device over the fence.

They would find the time to attend then without all the bumf & excuses.

greenies def play a role (but not the only role)

they wont allow the local fire brigade to do a fuel reduction burn in the local reserve.

things like this contribute to the severity of a fire if one starts

Going back 450million years the CO2 levels where much higher - generally estimated above 3000ppm, however the suns output was around 4% lower than current. So I do agree with Tombie that the sun does have a significant effect, but I agree with Rick here in that the current changes are happening too quickly to be blamed solely on sun output and Earth orbit

You think? I've had it with people in denial. When it becomes so obvious, that they can't deny, will they apologise ? They'll probably quote some obscure article about CO2 being higher in the stone age. I've also had it with greenies making political currency out of the fires. All those little finches and frogs that stopped undergrowth burn offs? Well, they're all burned to death now. ITS TIME FOR THE SILENT MAJORITY TO STAND UP.

Greed and ignorance rule the World. Where are the leaders to show the way forward? Spare a thought for Paulo Paulino Guajajara. Murdered for trying to protect his tribes dying forest.
