Mick, I don't think the seriousness of the fires are in question, just the severity and causation (in part).

There are certain comments about certain politicians and their studipity that I can't make outside Current Affairs without getting banned. Natural selection seems to have failed in their cases.
No they’re not, they just added another data cluster to the model. And it’s changed the outcomes yet again.
Models evolve, and what scientists don’t know is what they’re trying to find out. What they do know is they’re struggling to get it nailed down and this new data set changes much of the model and resulted in differing outcomes.
Climate change is also a natural and artificial phenomena.
Just as the planets core is accelerating it is entirely plausible that the atmospheric & climatic conditions are doing the same. Add mans influence and the challenge begins.
There is currently NO solution that is viable and will work if the world population continues to expand. The species is like Yeast - we will consume all the metaphoric Sugar (resources) and then die![]()
I have to admit, I am one who put blame on greenies and non hazard burning. But it turns out I was wrong. The facts are the window of opportunity for hazard reduction has reduced to such an extent very few days are suitable. Here are some more facts for our Pseudo scientists.
Former NSW fire chief Greg Mullins put it like this:“If anyone tells you, ‘This is part of a normal cycle’ or ‘We’ve had fires like this before’, smile politely and walk away, because they don’t know what they’re talking about.”
Facing up to those ‘big C’ words the PM can't bring himself to utter
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

An interesting paper. Page 11 has some tabulated facts.

So this is what my best friend is doing near Nana Glen today. The fire turned away from his property so he's helping a neighbor extinguish the burn on his place. We just had a phone conversation. He had some very rude things to say about the stupidity of those who deny that climate change is worsening the fire situation. When you're on the front line, your patience with those talking rubbish is limited, I guess.![]()
In Natural Resource Management there is a principle that is used to management resources where there is little data.
It is called the "Precautionary Approach" and has a specific meaning. Basically it means that until credible data is in place to manage the resource, then the "Precautionary Approach" is implemented and the resource is managed as if it is in the worst possible state. So if a species, environment or planet is being managed and data is not available to make meaningful management decisions then you must assume the worst and manage accordingly.
So assume the worst and get data to show things are better rather than as we are with our planet assume to best until information comes to light that shows are we are worst off. With the former things can only get better, but with the latter they can only get worse and that is where we are heading.
