    Not many got shot.

Have you ever fired a 44/45 cal handgun?

I owned a Ruger Blackhawk , a 44 magnum revolver , only ever used for yippee shooting because...

    1. it was a heavy bastard of a thing to hold and sight..

    2. because of 1 , it was not very accurate

    3. the ammunition cost a fair bit

    4. because of 3 , I would reload but the cases would only reload once before splitting.

    5. after your first shot it took 30seconds to re establish yourself from the recoil so rapid fire was basically impossible

    6. the handgrip was really too big for one handed firing which made 5 all the worse.

    7. you could not "slap leather" , as the revolver would end up on the ground

    8. the weight of the thing in its heavy leather holster threatened to drag your trousers down.

    9. if you wanted to carry extra ammo , you needed a shoulder bag.

    10. I bought it in association with a 44 carbine rifle which I shot buffalo with , which also wasn't much good over more than 150mtrs as the ballistics of the big fat slug wanted it very quickly to fall to ground. You could see the slug moving through the air. I hot loaded for the carbine to improve its ballistics hence the cases splitting , which also compounded the problems shooting the revolver.

I onsold both to a gullible cowboy in 1977 who assured me it was exactly what he'd been looking for.

You reckon that is a song for kids? How come the line "Christopher Robin went down with Alice" crept in?

Nor me, especially when you sit through Xmas Dinner & beyond with his mournful renditions of Xmas Carols.

Would they change the CD? Ballcocks!

No idea why we've not been asked back there since.

    Oh yes I do.

S'funny when I saw the posts re Marley Fan it immediately reminded me of a cooling Fan on a Marley Water Cooling Tower used by Fridgies for Air Conditioning.

Not even sure they are still made here today.

    Edit. Seems they are still.

SPX Cooling Technologies offers a full line of quality options for your specific cooling requirement. Our current brands, Marley, Recold and SGS, represent the best-of-breed in wet and dry cooling, cooling towers and air cooled heat exchangers, parts and service as well as our legacy brands and acquired businesses.

    Was he Clint Walker possibly?
Not likely though, I can't see Clint apologising to a bloke holding a gun at his head asking permission to open his Gay Pink Shoulder bag to grab some more ammo.

No, he would have plugged the baddie in the nuts with a gun concealed in said Gay Bag while supposedly reaching for the Dum Dums.
