Someone, probably famous, once said something like:
"I totally disagree with what you are saying but, will defend to the death your right to say it!"

That's how I try to look at what others say.

Do you see the irony, Bob? Saltbush Bill was good. I liked Witchetty's Tribe better. How does THAT sit with your worldview? I'll bet you liked it as well.

I'm 66, and love Larson. I doubt an editor would try him out in the current climate though.

    Yeah .. here's the problem.
If the free thinking 'do gooders' actually followed their own advice, then issues such as this wouldn't crop up and waste resources and time.

That is where the ability to laugh at yourself and the world around you works wonders. It’s kryptonite to that narrowness of thought being pushed so heavily nowadays!

Very noble thinking, shame that it is falsely, but widely, attributed to Voltaire .... see Evelyn Beatrice Hall - Wikipedia who, as far as I am aware, is not really famous at all (unfortunately)

So, I think we could take a decision and attribute it to you, Jonesy, for reminding us of it

Loved it. Not many angry constipated old white men would understand that humour.

Evelyn [ are we allowed to call her that nowadays ?] may not be famous in our circles, but she had some great quotes. She has one that may have been made for Jonesy.

" There is always more goodness in the World than there appears to be, because goodness is of its very nature modest and retiring " Evelyn Beatrice Hall.

Here is one Voltaire did say. Way ahead of his time, it was made for the internet.

    1763
    Treatise on Toleration
: “The supposed right of intolerance is absurd and barbaric. It is the right of the tiger; nay, it is far worse, for tigers do but tear in order to have food, while we rend each other for paragraphs.”
