IIRC, Sabin was oral, Salk was injected.
I remember having the pink liquid off spoon at school as a youngster.

Salk vaccine, injected 1955, Sabin, oral, 1961. The latter was the first widely used here. I finished highschool in 1958.

Those dates are from Wikipedia, and agree with my memory (which is fallible of course), and dates may have been a bit different from state to state.

Memories are reconstructed in our mind every time we bring them up. (Reference later promise) Kids were asked if they recalled meeting Bugs bunny at Disney Land when they were younger in a test. 15% of the kids said the recalled Meeting Bugs and many provided details.

Bugs is of course Warner brothers creation as part of its looney tunes and is Never Ever at Disney apparently

The Forensic Physiologist chat on Memories flexibility to out right change is cool plus.

Puts Iron Clad Memories in the bin? Any body grumpy about that? If So write it down this time apparently

‘I tawt I taw’ a bunny wabbit at Disneyland; New evidence shows false memories can be created

Nothin wrong with my memory ,like my hearing, “perfect in every way “

On that note; When I was but a stripling, Dad would go out to an old mate living on his own in a split paling hut, who cut firewood and snared possums for a living.
Old Mr. Gilly, “Tell me Arch, has the war finished?”
    Dad, “Oh yes it has.
Old Mr. Gilly,” Did we win?”
Dad, “Yes, Yes I think it’s fair to say we won”
Old Mr,Gilly, “Good......I never did like them Boers”

Now there is a word one doesn't hear much these days.

One presumes he was referring to WW2.

BTW there is still an old Stringy "Paling Hut" aprox. 6'x 6'up here in which it is claimed they fitted 8 (?) kids. Mum & Dad must have slept on the roof. Their property still consists of most of the abodes of those various times as they expanded.

I had one of those huts here until about ten years ago - when we had a tornado.........

The builder of it was not big on diagonal bracing, and it just lay down. I have no knowledge of what family was raised in it (or not). When I bought the place forty odd years ago, the word was that it had not been occupied since the big fire in 1956, which charred the western and northern walls.

I hope the kids recover! I think that will only occur due to very quick smart doctors/medical action which should not have been needed! Polio in the UK. The anti vax crew should be sterilized to avoid child abuse- That is very very grumpy as warned!

Diphtheria identified in two children in northern New South Wales, one child in ICU - ABC News
I get EXTREMELY BLOODY GRUMPY about this having had both Polio and Diphtheria. Polio in 1953 when I was about three years old and Diphtheria a year or so later. Now we have effective vaccines for both of them and in my view anyone in a country as advanced as UK and Aus who contracts either disease (and others) is, as NavyDiver implies, a victim of child abuse.
