And the actual job took how long, 1/2 hour to fit a new Fan Belt?

    Pretty much.
But when you have so many different clients your deal with, it's getting silly.

I can go to 6, sometimes 8 different workplaces each day and they all have their own induction and often site specific inductions.

And then there's the work reporting, with a certain fresh food people being the absolute worst.
We need our own multiple page, tablet based app filled out, their multiple page, tablet based app (that prerty much duplicates everything on ours, and, just for an old school twist, they require carbon paper copies, which have to be photographed and loaded onto their app!!
As well as work permits if anything is considered high risk.
Unfortunately almost everything I do is considered high risk these days. Grumpy old buggers thread
BTW, we are paid on the paper copy.....
    So efficient.
Sometimes it takes 45 minutes just to get off site and we're under the pump to get to the next job as generally our jobs are considered urgent.
But many clients have their own, specific paperwork that needs filling out, and so much duplicates our own, tablet app based software.

And if I see one more work order come through with "you must attend site by x time so we can meet our KPI" issued by the client they might find out where they can shove their KPI!!!!!
You are not my manager, you do not dictate when and where I or my techs go!
I and my service coordinator triage the jobs and our team, not the client!

I've had to learn to take huge breaths and go with the flow.

Geez,i feel your pain, maybe go back to fixing domestic fridges?

No way i hear you say

That sounds worse than working for the Qld Government,Qld health,Correctional services,Transport department,Justice and Administration, and Parliamentary services, all added together.

We find shopping centres are the worse,we try to get in and out before they realise we are there, but doing that isn't easy.
Don't ever light the oxy,has to be done out of hours,a real PITA.

The other week,we had to lift a large exhaust fan onto a roof above the kitchen at a correctional centre. After an hour and a half of paperwork we were ready to go.Site locked down.Crane where it needs to be,old fan disconnected.Long reach, had to add a fly to the crane.
Then some smarty decided that they had to empty the kitchen of workers, and the adjoining office,in case the fan fell through the roof.

FFS,anyway they all disappeared into the building to empty it,while they were doing that we lifted the old fan off,and had the new one on.

So once they came back,to tell us all good to go,we had the job done, crane was dismantled, ready to head out

    Hmm,gotta work out a timeframe......

    KPI,Key Performance Indicater.

We have customers and sites that use them as well, all a load of nonsense at times,as they use indicators that are not relevant to what we are doing.
All worked out by office workers that don't have much of an idea,if you know what i mean.

Come play in mining and resources -
You want inductions? We’ve got them!
And KPIs by the bucket load,
And JSEAs, THAs, SWMS, RAs, Take 5s, Hazard Cards, WIs, Procedures, SSOWs.

Then there’s the required qualifications, certifications, disposal of materials certificates, hazardous substance approvals/exemptions, SDS register.

HWPs (Hot Work Permits), Working at Heights, BA, Confined Space, Isolation and lock out (Red, Yellow, Green and SME)

Then there’s the plain old site Induction walk through.

And this is for each site!

To bring a contractor on to do work - minimum 6 hours induction - restricted access - fully escorted.

    It's great, Isn't it Paul?

One of the inductions I needed to do today was for NSW Corrections and NSW Police as we are now doing all the Police Stations and Correctional facilities up and down the coast and west to Tenterfield.
It's not over yet mind you, there's more to go once I get the OK back in 5 days that they'll actually allow me onsite as a fit and proper person

I was supposed to have this all done back in December

I actually did an 8 hour day today and it feels weird.
It's the shortest working day I've done in months.

Yer,well, they keep telling me to stop talking crap whenever i mention it.

But i have noticed when i go to help them on larger jobs, and i want to do things my way, they do sort of say "go away,i don't think we actually need you on this job anymore,we are right"

The other day i gave one of them a rev after he couldn't fit a unit in the van cos there ware 4 bales of hay in it and two 20litre drums of chlorine, and a MT bike..

So hopefully i get the shunt out the door....

Now what was this thread about??
