Anyway, just to let you know,i had the day off
    Bastard!

    You've earned it.

I was supposed to have Friday off.
    Guess who worked?
I actually sort of had Monday off but went into the office, bagged paperwork, went to the couriers and sent it, picked up deliveries (including a certain Tom Wood DC driveshaft )
and rang my boss who asked WTF was I doing?
"Jeff, it's all turning to ****, I think I need to come in tomorrow"
He said he couldn't ask me to do that as he'd
signed off on my day off but if I did decide to work it'd be appreciated.
I went to Lismore in civvies and ran up onto the shopping centre roof to reset a BOH AC to keep the client quiet, err, happy until I could get back there Tuesday.
To avoid the plethora of paperwork to access the roof via that client I just went into the centre management office and asked for a roof key.
It helps when I look after the entire centres chillers too.

I'm supposed to be getting Monday off in lieu.
    Maybe.

I think I have 5 weeks leave up my sleeve atm.

Its on private land so I doubt fines are likely. Back tonight and yet again I hobbled past the 3 disabled parking places all occupied by waiting mums. One lady actually backed out, I guess sort of offering to allow me to hobble back to move my car 3 placed I had to chuckle when I noticed she was double parked waiting behind one of the other 2 Left my car where it was.

Mr 11 was incensed and took a photo I honestly do not mind a stroll. School pick up areas are my fav places to walk parking if I have been lazy a few blocks away. Busted bones makes that a tad harder at present.

I read this & my heart bleeds.

FFS,anyway they all disappeared into the building to empty it,while they were doing that we lifted the old fan off,and had the new one on.

So once they came back,to tell us all good to go,we had the job done, crane was dismantled, ready to head out

But but but, 'ang on a tick, lets stop & think for a tad.

What if the fan did drop through the ceiling & minced a few of them, what then?

Don't get me wrong guys, I'm with you, if you get my drift.

Skata (sp?) would hit another type of fan & you'd probably be back in clink with yer colleagues sewing mailbags &/or doing exercises with Big Bubba picking up the odd cake of soap.

Mind you it sounds like you have "networked" a few mates in there so you could be ok.

How in the hell does a Fridgy Van hold 4 hay bales & a MT Bike in there I could never get any more than 3 bales & no Bike.

i don't think we actually need you on this job anymore,
Bloody hell Paul, that very nearly brought some tears to my eyes I bet that made you feel rubbish. Out with the old & in with the new eh? Bastards indeed.

Exactly. You run a very real risk if anything had gone bad. No ATW, no work.

On on my site your contract just terminated and site bans were instigated.

Inductions ???. Did one a while back for one of the larger earthmoving / mining equipment suppliers. It was one of those beauties that are in sections so if you get one question wrong you go back to the start of that section. So anyways I'm being quizzed on how to de-energise the hydraulics on a such and such front end loader prior to commencing work on it. It was at this point that I lost my patience with taking pot luck, getting it wrong and being sent back to the start of the section so I asked old mate that was running the induction what de-energising hydraulics has to do with enlarging the roller door openings on your workshop (the job I was there to do). He replied something along the lines of "Nothing , but we only have one induction for this place but you're going alright, It took some our boilermakers ages to get through it.

    And another.
I'm on a roll this week!

I've been called up for dury duty.

Case starts next week, two week case and I'd forgotten all about it.

Hmm, doing contract work in all the local stations surely precludes me, right? Grumpy old buggers thread

But when you have so many different clients your deal with, it's getting silly.

I can go to 6, sometimes 8 different workplaces each day and they all have their own induction and often site specific inductions.

And then there's the work reporting, with a certain fresh food people being the absolute worst.
We need our own multiple page, tablet based app filled out, their multiple page, tablet based app (that prerty much duplicates everything on ours, and, just for an old school twist, they require carbon paper copies, which have to be photographed and loaded onto their app!!
As well as work permits if anything is considered high risk.
Unfortunately almost everything I do is considered high risk these days. Grumpy old buggers thread
BTW, we are paid on the paper copy.....
    So efficient.
Sometimes it takes 45 minutes just to get off site and we're under the pump to get to the next job as generally our jobs are considered urgent.
But many clients have their own, specific paperwork that needs filling out, and so much duplicates our own, tablet app based software.

And if I see one more work order come through with "you must attend site by x time so we can meet our KPI" issued by the client they might find out where they can shove their KPI!!!!!
You are not my manager, you do not dictate when and where I or my techs go!
I and my service coordinator triage the jobs and our team, not the client!

I've had to learn to take huge breaths and go with the flow.
Rick, this is a precis of my reasons for early retirement. In my last twelve months of employment I slowly ran out of those breaths and started to sink in the flow. Take care, mate!

Instead of using a one size fits all induction, they should have it divided into sections so they only do the relevant bits. Worked for us.
