Some, not all, neighbours can be a real PIA.

Have got a French guy next door (one of the french Champagne bunch of wonkers) who wants everything his own way without any thought for the local environment or others downstream. ie. Places rocks in the waterway (illegal without a permit) to stop silt but not realising all he is doing is making a mini waterfall which will choke up behind it & so back to square 1.

He recently rang around our other neighbours & the bloke who calls each year to slash the grass behind our dam, which has been carried out at this time of the year for 30 years without fail, just because he noticed some drying grass amongst the green. He did not ring us to inquire.

He grabbed land when he moved in & leaves stupid triangular pieces in corners that becomes "No Mans Lands" so doesn't get maintained & all that sort of ****.

When you talk to him his attention Span is bugger all & you can see his brain wandering off into the distance & other people have noticed this as well.

In contrast, the neighbour on the other boundary cannot do enough for me ie. will lend me his trailer when I need it as well as his Trade Plates so I can take the now unregistered S2A out on the road pulling his trailer.
Loans me tools & just recently loaned me his Hydraulic fitting nut Spanners to repair the Clutch Master Cyl. Not only that, but insisted on helping me to get it back together & bleed it. He is a qualified Motor mechanic who has sold his business on & has a shed chokkas with gear.
It cost me 2 x bottles of Merlot but well worth it as a gift imho although he said "there was no need because we are neighbours." He is going to do the 10,000km service on the Mazda CX-3 in a week or so & stamp the Service Record

If we are without a vehicle for some emergency reason he will lend me a spare he has & is just a generally nice bloke.

The other side mob we never see or hear from & that's ok too.

Edit. 13/02 The other "outstanding" thing the Frenchman did was to purchase his land knowing it was next door to a house he didn't like to look at.

So what did he do? He told the owner of the house to plant a screening of shrubs or trees on the house owner's land (not his ffs) & for that owner to pay for them.

    Putain Joue or what?

Not sure whether to be grumpy or not:

This afternoon at the granddaughters school, all lollipop services were withdrawn because of an impending storm. Kids running amok on the pedestrian crossings. Stressed drivers trying to escape.

Should. I feel grumpy? Bemused? Numb? Confused?
No kids were run over as far as I know.

    Grumpy old buggers thread

Watching TV Sunday afternoon as we were advised by the weather experts to expect what is called severe weather so stay in doors and wait it out. Of course nothing much happened weather wise other than a little wind not enough to move any of the lose building materials in my neighbours yard.

Got to the point where you no longer believe the forecast. Have not had an accurate severe weather warning this year or last. Seems the reports are made to be sure the time it does happen they can say they got it right.

This winter was supposed to be the coldest and most snow for 40 years. Am yet to see any snow. As the snow season traditionally runs from January to early April might still see some perhaps

Thinking the weather forecast is paid for by the clothing retailers so people will go out and spend on new cold weather gear

While watching TV was channel flipping and saw a warning that this show might upset some viewers due to graphic violence content. As this was mid afternoon it was a bit of a surprise to see such a warning come up. Clicked on the guide to see what it was. A fishing show!
