A decade ago our oldest son and his band flew from summer in beachside Coffs Harbour to Canada to start a tour, transferred without leaving the terminal, and flew to Calgary.
They arrived, still in shorts and T-shirts, to find it was minus 30. Grumpy old buggers thread
Hired a van and driver, went straight to a shopping centre, and bought winter clothes.
They spent the next 6 weeks on a bus, touring south into mid-west USA, in deepest winter, with snow everywhere. Then flew back to summer in Oz.

If you dropped into the front of your docs reception for an hour or two you would do a lot more than Doc Martin Ian.

A comedy show called GP the Musical nailed it a few years ago
This is just one aspect dumped on Doctors and my front desk daily

You don't have to fly from Australia to Canada to experience that. I had been in LA for a week in spring. Max temps were in the region of 25-30 C. I flew to O'Hare Chicago and experienced the wildest landing of my life. Flew into an ice storm out of Canada with hard snow and ice coming in horizontal and the temp. well below zero. I picked up a Hertz car and drove very carefully to Milwaukee after buying some winter clothing. At Milwaukee the lake had frozen back over after the initial spring thaw. I take my hat off to the guys from the Roads Dept. who were on the job through the storm ploughing and spreading sand.

A few years ago I was sitting on a beach in the Algarve region of Portugal. It was around 34° so I decided to have a dip in the briny.

Now being a fit, middle aged Aussie, I leapt up from my towel, ran down the beach and dived in............................into 1° of glorious Atlantic seawater.
My adoring and caring spouse reckons I looked like Flipper standing on it's tail as I came out of the water. I had to sprint back up the beach to get my towel and my wife's towel, to try and warm up. The most embarrassing thing was that other beach goers were pointing and laughing.
In hindsight, I should have considered the fact that none of the local beach goers were swimming and most of them were nude but, that's another story!

    I must be dense

Some of you may remember that a few weeks ago I reported on a raid on a nearby property which saw 30,000 cannabis plants seized, and six men arrested.

I have just connected this to an incident a few weeks earlier. On the way into town, I spotted a an unoccupied car pulled off the road into the bush. There would seem to be no reason at all to park there - this was about 0730. After mulling it over for 45 minutes on the way into town, I dropped in to the police station and reported it.

Passing the same spot today on the way home from town, and remembering it, I realised that I must have reported to the police a police surveillance operation!
