There seems to be a fractal set nature to specialities, each one spinning off from another, ad infinitum. Rather like public servants.

But can the smallest, most insignificant specialist generate the whole gamut of specialists....... ?

If so that is truly fractal, but I suspect another agent is in play.

I'd consider the PS to be fractally expanding atm because they've achieved critical political mass and no one overseeing 'power' will upset the current situation.

Can think of a couple of ways this could be 'changed'.........

'some'?? Oddly getting in to Specialist Training as a GP or any others is very very competitive. It is tightly controlled for every specialty- A Doctor with out a specialty is shift work at hospitals or research only really.

Yes, it is tightly controlled, the lobby groups make sure of it as they are not there for the good of the nation. The AMA for instance behaves like a cartel.

I thought the AMA was just a Trade Union in a nice suit.

Trade Unions lobbyists do wear very fine suits but generally don't lobby gov to restrict competition.

No, they merely become the government.... Cuts out the need for lobbyists.

"Bali bonk ban"- (news paper not me being rude)

"Tourism operators in Indonesia are still trying to recover from the devastating impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic. Now the country's parliament has passed new laws that some fear could turn tourists away once again - because having sex out of wedlock is set to be outlawed.

The controversial laws, which critics have labelled a "disaster" for human rights, also ban unmarried couples from living together and restrict political and religious freedoms. There were protests in Jakarta this week, and the laws are expected to be challenged in court.

The new criminal codes are set to take effect in three years and apply to Indonesians and foreigners living in the country, as well as visitors.

It has been widely reported in nearby Australia, where some newspapers have dubbed it the "Bali bonk ban".

    "

Grumpy or just frustrated A stop that or you'll go blind rulz

    Edit.

BBC news has some funny bits- Drug smugglers are relatively minor apparently

"Australians are acutely aware of how serious getting in trouble with the Indonesian authorities can be - even for relatively minor offences.

A spokesperson for Indonesia's justice ministry tried to calm concerns by suggesting that the risk was less for tourists because anyone making the police complaint would most likely be an Indonesian national.
