We have a "Husk" of hares on the property and they are quite a bit larger than the bunnies I was hunting. If they're grazing amongst the Redneck Wallies, they tend to blend in somewhat.
The hares don't do much damage, compared to rabbits. We occassionally get a pumpkin or two, devoured and I've had to wire cage the capsicums, eggplants, zuchs and the likes.
I've found that when they start on a certain pumpkin, they'll return to the same one until it's finished, so not too bad.

Makes it easier to select the best Anti-personnel/Hare mine possibly with a trip wire?

Fillet and back strap with salt, pepper, paprika, garlic and onion powder - 12 hour wine Ragu of the rest of the Hare and you'll be in heaven

My kids love them They thought it was like spag boll only better. Like this I just top it off with the rare Fillet and back strap

Quite a few years ago, whilst the dear wife and myself were having a cold drink on the deck, a few deer decided to stop for a drink at our dam.
Now, a mate of mine is a very accomplished bow hunter and half jokingly, I said to my wife, "Perhaps I should give Peter a call?"
Well, the look on her face had me scampering off to the machinery shed, at a good pace.
It was almost as though I'd told her that I'd bought another Landy!

That was nothing to do with the deer. It was because you were sat with a bevy.

Ah, the good olde "I have bought another Land Rover Ploy"to detract them from the real issue which gives them a Migraine so they go to bed with the curtains pulled for a week or two, so you can do repairs & get the rego sorted.

Then you say "I dunno, a mate just dropped it in because he is going overseas for a couple of years" by which time she is used to the bloody thing sitting in the yard.

Fellow are cute John They also are a bit like lamb and can have a bit of fat on them

Side door into garage has an old style large key similar that which used to be common for sheds and even the back door of some houses. Is a fairly large devise which should make it difficult to miss place

Now this key disappeared some time this afternoon in a 15 minute window while extracting the gazebo to set it up in the back yard and returning the case to the garage.

Setting up now as in last month have had 5 (non consecutive) days in double digits and the last 2 just crept over the 20 mark. Those last 2 being heat wave temperature around here. Summer appears to have finally arrived. A month later than normal but arrived it has

The garage key normally lives in the door so we do not have to go looking for it. So where could it be and how could it have disappeared? Looking on path and around where set up the gazebo no trace found

Am informed that there is a second key which we can use as cannot find the key. Brings it out to show me and notice it is very different to the one that has gone missing. Not just referring to this one being chrome and the missing key being a rust brown

Insisted it was a duplicate and demonstrating it would work. A lot of fussing and the lock sort of moves. Am informed that this key works if you keep trying but you have to turn it in the opposite direction? Lock must be worn and we need a new one

Luckily at this point my not so highly honed detective skills kick in and I remember that some cuttings of the tree that overhangs where the gazebo was put up were gathered up and put in the bin

The bin is near the garage door. Could there be a connection? Was something dropped and the key on the path gathered up and put in the bin? Checking bin and there is the missing key in among the cuttings. Put key in lock and it works without turning it backwards

Seems defeat not admitted and we still need a new lock as the spare key does not work? Will add it to that list of things that need fixing some day just not today

A good story, glad you found it. The next step was to call in a couple of local villains to sort it for you.
I think it pays to check/Stock-take all keys occasionally, especially those in the tin box in the drawer.usually forgotten & usually not labelled which makes it a bit difficult' . Try tying a Bright Yellow ribbon or similar to the key.


Spare checked keys can be bit of a Lifesaver when needed. I have a couple of sets in two places, 'indoors tends to forget their location????????? Youngest Daughter knows them for the just in case emergency for Ambulance which I hope is never used but they are there in the event of.

I'm sure she's not a burglar but her mates may be.
