The trolley bay was immediately to my right.
This is perhaps the thing that annoys me the most. Probably one reason I dislike some places that are too peopley.

I also call them a name that starts with 'c' and preceded by lazy. Occasionally with an f bomb or two interspersed. Not for use here or in mixed company.

I am currently waiting for a callback from my doctor's practice. I was number 48 in the queue, and estimated time on hold for the call was 40 minutes, so I opted for a call back. This happened, but then I found I was number ten in the queue, so I had another twenty or so minutes on hold. The reason for the call is that I got an email and text from them asking to confirm my appointment for noon tomorrow, combined with the fact that I got a call from them yesterday to change the time of the appointment to 1420. So now I don't know whether I am expected to turn up at 1200 or 1420!

Update, 1702:- I finally got to talk to someone and confirm I should be there at 1420.

Last week I was in town for an appointment, and was standing in the checkin queue at number four, at 0850, when I got a phone call telling me my 0900 appointment had been moved to 1200.

Last month I got a message from the telling me to call and make an appointment with my cardiologist. I could not get through on the phone without an unreasonable wait, so instead, when I was in town a few days later, I went to the desk and attempted to make an appointment. I was informed that there were no appointments open in January, and his contract ended then, and they did not know when or whether there would be a replacement.

All told, enough to consider changing doctors - but apparently all the doctors in town have closed their books to new patients, and this practice has thirty plus years of my medical records anyway. At least I seem to be able to see a GP I have had for about ten years here, usually with little delay.

And this is a similar story from just about any business. Have you tried calling a bank? Or a telco? Or an Insurance company?

The GP i have been seeing for well over 35yrs has moved to a new practice, and what a **** show it is,to say the least.
The only reason i go is because he is good.

No appointments now, just come in and wait.Look on the app to see what times he is in.So if he is an at say 8.00 am,get there at 7.00am when they open.sign in on the app,and find you are still around anywhere between 6th and 10th in the que, depending. Then he turns up 3/4 of an hour late.FFS

Or sometimes, if on the app it says he is in at 9.00am as an example,he has often been there since 8.00am,as the app is incorrect.
Then i get there at 8.00,and there is often already a que of at least 10 people as he is seeing other patients to off load the work from other doctors at the center, and those patients don't mind who they are seeing.

Bulk billing seems to be the attraction, which they didn't do at the last place.

Not entirely related to your doctor situation rather the automated phone systems they are using

Have sat in business meetings where the phone call stats are reviewed. You will often find that the high number of abandoned calls are blamed on people repeatedly calling and hanging up so they are not considered to be reliable. Say look at how long before a call is connected as the true measure

Has not proven to be popular when I break this happy thought process and ask - why people are so unhappy that are repeatedly calling and hanging up - does the system have an auto disconnect feature - if so is it in use and how long before it cuts in - how many people are hitting the auto cut off point - does your auto survey of people who called only cover calls that are connected

Often then hear that they have invested in the system which was supposed to cut costs and staff. System had increased the number of calls and so cannot afford to fund more people to make up for the change in customer behavior that the system caused

Sounds a bit Arthur or Martha/left hand not knowing what the right hand is up to, stuff.

Having said that I got a GP time to see my quack. Shortly after, I rcd a TEXT to advise me that it would be a Phone consult from Melbourne at the same time as the physical visit????????? WTF! All I needed was two sheets of A4 signed by the GP. For a file for somebody???? Interested to see how that would have worked in the real world. Never heard another word from anybody. I guess it was Bulk Billed to some one probably the OZ Gubmint.

I have to say that my experience over the last four months has been exactly the opposite. I have no issues whatsoever getting in to see my GP, and the bloody hospital keeps making appointments for me with no effort on my part ☹️, all of it is bulk billed and every single person I have come into contact with, and there are lots of them, have been amazing, caring and compassionate and supportive. It’s quite astonishing. I even got a prioritised appointment with a dentist. I could have done without that but it seems that at least one of the many concoctions they give me will screw up my bone density which of course will affect my jaw and teeth.
    I’m really quite grateful.
As for insurance companies, try Aldi. They always answer the phone pretty promptly and are helpful and pleasant. This was not the case with the previous mob.
