Its interesting that in NSW the Public Health Act - Sect 7 makes the Minister for Health, not the Chief Health Officer, the decision-maker for issuing public health orders.
Other states have declared States of Emergency and made their CHOs the decision- makers.
So the decisions are made by a politician in NSW and a public health officer in other states.
Interesting.
So NSW has 18 new cases in 24 hours. Talking about '11 new cases' because some cases were previously announced is confusing.
Dr Swan has been consistent in his messaging since the start of the pandemic. If you need one voice, his is the one. Just remember , the health officer making the decisions in NSW is a politician. You have to question, is he giving the best health advice or following party policy. Now you might say it is none of our business, and normally it wouldn't be. But when decisions made at the top level in NSW can have serious implications at national level, it's everyone's business. Hopefully this outbreak will naturally go away, and that is the result we all hope for. This could be just a taste of things to come.

Some good news, vaccination with Pfizer -BioNTech and Astrazeneca is as effective at preventing hospitalisations in the case of the Delta variant as in the case of the Alpha variant. After 2 doses. Two doses of Pfizer prevents 96% of hospitalisations, whilst the AsytraZeneca prevents 92%, according to a study involving 14.000 people.

Nope, I'm suggesting that like everyone else he has an opinion and is entitled to it. That opinion is biased by his experience which, by the way is more in journalism than Pediatrics in which he has his doctorate Norman Swan - Wikipedia.
Maybe the decision around when to institute a lockdown is better done by those who have all the relevant information rather than journos

Agree entirely, especially if health professionals are those giving the advice.
EDIT. Bit of a long bow to call him a journo.
