    Maybe this will help Eevo.

Only a small part of NSW is locked down. There are some restrictions in other areas (I believe) but this doesn't preclude a lot of normal activity.

Travelling from the lockdown area to Newcastle (Hunter Valley Region) is definitely a no no.

Near enough..... WA government imposes restrictions on Perth, Peel region as woman tests positive for COVID-19 - ABC News

Newspaper story (Sunday rag) intimates she went into city hotel quarantine (as normal) and was infected in the FIRST 24 hours. !!! - Another nail in the coffin of using a building unfit for purpose....

Intriguing oddity. The spouse of the Wicked Worker.....has tested NEG. - Marriage on the rocks ? Previous infection & immunity ? Luck.?

VERY few here believe it will be for "only 3 days" to contact - trace... Betcha another "case" will surface, and a week or two added. This time, no 'Job Keeper' to keep us gig workers in the black.

You're getting your cases confused. The NT mining case was caught in Qld hotel quarantine. The WA lady who came from Sydney did not have to quarantine when she flew in. She tested negative when she flew in but subsequently became positive.

The highly contagious Delta strain explained. A couple of points.

Delta is the strain that devastated India in its 2nd wave.

Research in the UK puts Delta at 60% more transmissable than other variants. Indications are it can spread in just 5-10 seconds of contact.

Delta is thought to be more transmissable between children. Some children have been tested positive at the Bondi outbreak.

Israel & the United Kingdom , two places with far superior vaccination rates than Australia , are seeing a noticeable lift in cases because of Delta.

Two vaccine doses are neededv for protection against Delta. Studies have shown varying degrees of effectiveness against Delta, with one indicating Pfizer at 88 % and AstraZeneca at 59.8 % effective , both after 2 doses. However, studies are ongoing.

Children are getting infected at a greater rate than before, and yet Australia has not even had a discussion yet on vaccinating children. And Schoolteachers must be vaccinated as a priority, with front line health workers. Is Australia going to leave this until it is too late, or just pretend this isn't happening, like the rest of the vaccination stuff up ?

And another bit of good news, Delta has mutated in India to a more dangerous strain. Which is thought to be resistant to most vaccines.

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

And some news on the 'Delta Plus ' variant. From India. Don't read this if you have a nervous disposition.

‘Delta plus’ covid strain declared new variant of concern in India (news.com.au)

EDIT. “Until the country is vaccinated, with over a billion people getting vaccinated, there is no way we can ever think of the pandemic coming to an end,” Mr Budhiraja said

    WARNING FROM THE MODERATION TEAM.

Recently a number of posts in this thread have come to the attention of the the Mods, for political content.
Appreciating the difficulty separating the two subjects, the Mods have been flexible, taking a lenient view. This stance is not an invitation to express a partisan opinion or refer to politicians in a disrespectful or derogatory manner.
If the ideological content persists, the Mods will issue infractions and take a firmer view on the Rules of Access, this will drastically stifle discussion on the subject.
