We went to the (semi) local IGA today to get some Nana's frozen apricot pies - Woolies hasn't stocked them for months, they have apple and blueberry). (we saw them in the IGA in Lightning Ridge so took a punt on them being in the Blaxland shop).

We were able to buy a 6-pack of paper towel but there was no toilet paper.

We may have to do the Grey Nomad thing of making an electric drill toilet roll spooler to steal the paper from council public toilets.

I had my fortnightly trip to town today, to visit the Bottleo and it reminded me of the Blues Brothers scene where John Belushi was leaving prison and to gather his belongings, he had to stand 'Behind the Line'. At the pub, there was a black tape line 1.5 metres off the counter, with an intermediate, dividing line so no more than two patrons could occupy the space, whilst staying their respective distances.

No noticeable panic in my little town, thank the deities!

Life is normal for me, even though I'm in the ' Higher Risk' age group but, I also understand why some on here have some trepidation. Remember: Stress weakens your immune system!

Ron, I am sure a bloke of your abilities can do a better one than that, say one to clear out four Cubicles at the same time? A bit like a Gang Mower for instance.

I see only 10% of Australian cases have needed to be hospitalised, so thats good.

Its going to be chaos on the Queensland border at midnght when the police stop every vehicle.

I got a small packat of toilet paper a couple of weeks back and at the time there was plenty on the shelf - now I regret not grabbing a couple more as I will start to run out soon - I did see plenty of Chux cleaning cloths so that may be an option in the future, I also noticed the zombies had also been hitting the paper napkins big time.

Don't bet on it. I did the 7am dash last week, getting in at 7am because the "fellow of African appearance", in the security uniform couldn't do maths, after checking my license .
There was no toilet paper, kitchen towel, napkins, baked beans, canned spaghetti, spam, canned salmon or yogurt. None of these items had been restocked overnight. I didn't bother checking rice or pasta.

Whilst we were at the IGA this morning, staff were taping signs with a cross (and a message about minimum distance between customers) to the floor.

You need to think out the square, Ron. A bottle brush in the drill would last at least as long as a 48 roll pack of the more traditional material.
For those with larger families, experiment with a banister brush and reciprocating saw*.

    *Hint: remove the blade first.

Knowing Ron the drill would wind on 3 squares and then promptly fail....

A chemist shop somewhere in NZ (cannot remember where... ) had signs placed 2m apart on the floor indicating that there was "bubbling lava" between the signs and to be safe you had to stand on these signs. People seemed to like this idea.

I recently deployed my own [anti]social distance tool - Vegemite and raw garlic on toast before going out. Seemed to work...
