Issue is those who would but cannot vaccinate. Appreciate some feel they do not want/need vaccine. One elderly couple I know do not want them. Their kids and grand kids want them to.

Choice is important if it is not impacting on everyone.

Besides the ones who chose to not take what is free and may cost us a lot if/when they get sick and seek treatment, Kid under 12 are in my view the biggest next risk as we cannot offer them one. That does mean a choice not to vaccinate myself would have direct possible impact on kids under 12. Not an option for this black duck[bigwhistle]

Not trying to be a doom dayer- the facts are rather clear I feel. Covid Delta or the next or the next will spread just the same as the Spanish flu did more than 100 years ago. That the Spanish flu strain is still here in the current flu strains is not that remarkable apparent. Our inability to recall history is not that uncommon either. The lessons learn in the first few lock downs here in Vic showed clearly it can be contained for a while but only if people help. Its clear a some people are unwilling to help or comply now and always - history is clear on that too.

50 million worldwide dead in 1918 and a few years post that at a time the population about 1.5 billion. 500,000,000 estimate to have had the Spanish flu ( CDC numbers)
Interesting possibly is that was about 3.3% of the world died from Flu then. No Vaccines no oxygen and much more advanced care at that time.

With current population close to 8 billion even a 1% death rate kills hundreds of times the current world wide estimated dead. 80,000,000 or less? Mia Culpa- I am being a doomsdayer - Off to cuddle my kids and pup[thumbsupbig]

Yes, and I feel for those that want to but still can't get a vaccine - both my kids are in their 20's and have only just become eligible. Both booked in - one 6 weeks away and the other 9 weeks - earliest appointments they could get.

A good news story from Rookwood weir Central Qld. 300 close contacts of a positive case with a worker at the weir have been released, zero virus recorded today. However C.Q.'s Health's Director of public Health had this to say;

"While it is reason to celebrate, Dr Khandaker urged the community to stay vigilant.

"So far, so good — but please don't get complacent," he said.

"We are very wary about premature celebration, and we're all highly conscious that a positive COVID-19 case could crop up at any time.
"So it's essential that everybody follows the health advice and continues to stay home when they're sick and get tested.""

Same here. People are registered but no vaccine ATM { Pfizer] Possibly diverted to needier places.

One of the confirmed transmission sites in Canberra is Lennock Landrover dealership - seems someone working there has Covid and has unknowingly been spreading it there - surprised it is a transmission site as I didn't think anyone ever went there.

They’re essentially vegan aren’t they? No real meat at all.

It's normal to have a GP appointment to ensure there are no issues with AZ. We both did and my wife was advised to have Pfizer because of some health issues, but I was cleared for AZ. Vax clinics with Pfizer only don't need to offer GP appointments as Pfizer is cleared for all 16+.

Interesting that epidemiologists are saying even vaxing 80% of eligible people won't achieve herd immunity and relaxing restrictions will result in a pandemic of the unvaxed, as is happening now in the USA.

Both WA and Qld now require at least one jab to enter and it seems likely that will become a standard rule. I see Qld intercepted 10,000 vehicles yesterday and turned back 1000.

Basically, except for the small number with genuine medical reasons, the anti-vaxers are going to be excluded from many situations, including border passes, venues and airline tickets, maybe GP surgeries, pharmacies and others because they will be more likely to carry and transmit Covid and be a threat to all of us.
If I ran a business I'd be very cranky if someone who refused to be vaccinated brought Covid in, infected my customers and staff and shut down my business. A vaccine certificate can be saved to a phone and used at the door just as easily as a QR code.
