Just mentioned the WW incident to 'er indoors. She has a friend in France & even there the people are becoming more stroppier than the French usual since things have been relaxed.

They did predict there could be some mental health issues in Oz. Seems about right then. If he was ME bloke& she being a woman telling him then that figures in my book. Deport him!

Other countries are taking care of their international students, who can't go home because the airlines are grounded, and who can't work because the businesses are closed, but we are leaving them to starve. Australian students are being supported by foreign governments during this pandemic.
This is our fourth largest export industry we are talking about. I bet a lot of them will go to more welcoming countries like Canada or Germany when its possible to leave.
University staff are already denied JobKeeper support. How many hundreds of Australian university staff will be retrenched because we ignored the needs of international students?
    This is very short-sighted behaviour.

Can you post up the links documenting other countries supporting international students?

I’m pretty sure international students and others on working visa are fully aware of the level of support offered at time of entry......they also had plenty of warning to return to native country and be support as a citizen of their own country.

I can tell you my nephew is getting zero support from the UK government under a working visa as he choose to stay. He made his choice, isn’t complaining, is managing to get by......and is hoping rugby gets up and running soon.

Have you notice the level of debt aus government is racking up, won’t be an issue for those retired but bet ya bottom dollar us tax paying full time workers will be paying down the debt via some levy.

I’m all for helping those in need but these can tough it out or go home to mum and dad.

No support in the UK. I saw an Aussie student and his family on Facebook a while back thanking the German government for his first support payment. Canada is also doing it.

Hmm, a quick search showed it isn’t straight forward in canada...I doubt many will qualify.

Some int'l students eligible for financial support in Canada

And many international students in Germany have returned home. Germany accepts there will be lower number.

    COVID Test accuracy ?

I've been seeing some concerns raised over the a Accuracy and Specifcacy (speling?) of the popular COVID1- Tests. The RT- PCR is accused of producing too many false positives, and antibody testing is...well, a bit like the Wild West. Every man and his dog wants to invent a quicke & easy & cheap one, but, this appeared and for those smarter than I, have a look and comment.

There's a few other lines of thought in that, particularly the sequalae from 'assertive' reaction by health authorities of the time - Page 4 of the above.

On a lighter note, certain African country(s) should be wary of their livestock and fruits... though car engine oil seems harmless..

Tanzanian paw paw tests positive for COVID-19 - President Magufuli

Or maybe they were sold some of those defective tests, you know, the ones China sold to the UK.. at a nice profit.
