I did. Glad I did too for the peace of mind.
In my case, the doctor thinks my mild sore throat was because I had the flu vaccine a week earlier.

Don't forget that some positive people don't have any symptoms, so they feel fine while they are infecting others. Only way to identify them as positive is to test them.

I see in Melbourne they have started mass testing students and other groups this week, even if they have nil symptoms, to find the positives.

Its not a big deal. Drive in, give your details, get the throat swabbed and a swab on a prong shoved up your nose and rotated, shed some tears, go home and wait for the result. No charge.

Better to know than to wonder.

I wouldn't need to go anywhere, a scenario which brings me to the edge of fear, as I'm sure my dear wife would like nothing better than to have a valid reason to 'Get up My Nose!'

I mentioned this jokingly at a rooms the other day & specifically requested a black one ('cos they are the best)

Was told that it seems Blick ones are not included in packets these days. Dunno why?

Actually no. The false negative rate is quite high. So you can have the virus and get a negative test.

67% on day 4. 38% when you develop symptoms. 20% on day 8 and then gets worse past that point.

Where I live anyone can get tested whether or not they have any symptoms. It is great and helps limit spread but testing can’t stop it for this and other reasons.

Really? Did your doctor really say that Mick? Sounds really unlikely to be related at all.

"What are the possible side effects from the flu shot?

Common side effects following seasonal flu vaccination include soreness, fever, redness, pain and swelling at the injection site, vomiting and malaise. Theses side effects are usually mild and resolve within a few days, usually quickly without any treatment. Generally, reactions may occur within a few hours following vaccination and may last 1 to 2 days. Allergic reactions are uncommon after vaccination, but can be severe in some people. These reactions are due to an allergy to egg protein or to other components of the vaccine, including the antibiotics neomycin and polymyxin, which are in the vaccine in small amounts. Some severe allergic reactions can happen within 15 minutes. That is why it is important to wait in the allocated area for 15 minutes after being vaccinated.

More likely the usual bugs about now gave you your sore throat mate. Salt water gargle is our favorite tip for that

'If you're asked to quarantine you need to do as you are asked'

Mr Andrews said the pandemic was "not over" and implored people to maintain physical distancing, to not shake hands or greet others with hugs and kisses.
"If you're sick you can't go out. If you even have just mild symptoms, you have to come forward and get tested and if you're asked to quarantine you need to do as you are asked," he said.
"If people don't do the right thing... and spend a modest amount of time with others, it is almost certain they will give the virus to other people."Victoria'''s coronavirus cases rise by 17 as two schools in Melbourne'''s hotspots close - ABC News

Weakness with this is a few people confirmed with Covid19 are not and no action is taken to stop the selfish types

WOT, Blokes as well? I wonder no more about that St. Kilda Mob.

People being tested have to promise to go straight home and stay there until they get the result, usually in 24-48 hours. Negative results come via a text message to the phone, while positive results get a phone call.

We know how successful that Honour System has been. NOT.

What are the chances of more than 50% 'doing the right thing?' No no no, not marry the girl, stay home.

I wonder if road trippers are going to be welcomed in little towns or viewed with suspicion, fear, even?
What is the difference to previous?

In most cases, but the test is not foolproof, and false negatives are much more likely than false positives. This is probably usually because the sample procedure is flawed in some way, but there are also plenty of ways of screwing up the actual analysis of the sample as well.

Good question - I probably would if there was even a small chance that I had been exposed. But since it is a fortnight since seeing anyone else, if I woke up with a sore throat, probably not.
