They don’t just recruit ex army retirees

Exactly what happens if they got put in a shearing shed
They take on people and teach them
Yeah, by all means make them clean (I always tell apprentices that they have to learn to clean up the mess before they can make it)
Maybe if they got taken away from there x stations they might want to be serving members (or a shearer)

The problem is that people can get on to Centrelink payments, have all the training in the world paid for by the taxpayers and not bother to use that training in the real world

If mum and dad want to support there offspring for the rest of their life, we’ll so be it
Don’t expect the rest of the country to look after them, especially when in times where the country needs them to give back
This is where as per my original post
A bit of work ethic, respect and gratitude comes into play

4 weeks of learning some “real life” skills
Not many would want to spend another 4 weeks out in the bush after there first stint and would hopefully get a job
I agree there is only so many rocks that you can paint white, once a ship is painted, there are plenty of white lines that need repainting on the major highways (and they could pick up all the litter the grubs have thrown out there car windows (2 for 1 bonus))
If they want to cause trouble during there service, they could always have a bit of solitude in the lockup for a night or two
A lot of countries make their young adults do a bit of time in the army, then they flee their own homeland and reside in a country where they can bludge on the dole (ring any bells), oh hang on they do support the economy, they spend the “hard earned” tax payers dollars down at the local casino

Well start a private Dad's army and you do it but dont burden the military its not their job.

Once tried I never even doubted it. I wonder if I can fool my GGKids next visit? Worth a try, so that I may look a bigger pillock than what they believe now.
