    Is elimination even possible?
    Hiya Rick,

All the while, the govt pressers lately have been all about "when, not if" it comes back. Questions being asked from the opposition about "what they know..." I guess those questions will be rephrased about "what they knew... " Lots of instructions about how every home should have masks in case... etc.

Mystery surrounds where these family were infected from. Level 3 lock down for Auckland is for 3 days to allow time to investigate.

    More info here if interested.

Just glad we lock down with low discovered numbers instead of waiting for the numbers to get higher. Just a case now of waiting to see how wide spread it is in Auckland and quite possibly, around the country. If it was found in a small no-name town it would worry a lot of people a lot less. Auckland though? Damn! Nation-wide hub central and a bus-stop/train station/airport and pub for the virus out to the rest of the country. If I was a betting man I would put money on source being a worker at the airport border.

Ground hog day... actions needed are clear, ramifications are clearer.

Yep and locking down every time a new case emerges, from here to eternity, isn't really going to work well for the overall well being of a country long term either.

All four cases come from the same New Zealand household and the source of infection is unknown.

That 4 pop up with out a known vector means it is probably out in the wild in NZ in symptom free people.
Yes unfortunately we have been importing covid into our country, putting people into hotels surrounded by rent-a-fences and crossing our fingers that we wouldn't get an outbreak while some of those people have been breaking out of the hotels, and others breaking in.

If we were to 'wipe out' the covid, it would then have meant closing our borders totally, in all reality, to stay free of it. It is that option, or be like Sweden and learn to live with it, but we can't have it both ways at the moment.

I reckon it would be technically possible for it to have been imported on an object imported via air freight from an overseas country. Small chance admittedly but probably more likely than having the virus asymtomatically circulating for 100 days withouit seeing another case. Either that or an escape from a quarantine hotel but given the profile of that happening its reasonably unlikely.

sorry yeah, didn't make myself clear there, I meant importing it by bringing positive people in. But they are actually looking into the coolstore where one of the newly infected people works, looking at the possibility of it coming via refrigerated freight, considering that they yet to find out how these people became infected.

With due respect to our Kiwi Cousins, personally I have reached the point where I am not trusting anyone any more so any thing is possible. After all, they are only words. Too many people are liars, both here & it appears NZ.

There have been too many discrepancies with the truth from those who we all trust to get control of this thing & time is of the essence.

As Gordie said, looking like refrigerated freight may be the culprit.
