The new Queensland border signs
Attachment 164450
To be really, really clear about this - this thing is simply not the fault of the average Melburnian or Victorian. It was due to a stuff-up by the bureaucrats, not the average local here.
So, unsurprisingly, a lot of Victorians are quietly but seriously ****ed off at the States like NSW, Qld and WA for the parochialism, making political capital out of our hardship and the sheer nastiness being thrown around - so much for "we're all Aussies in this together". Seriously - the premiers of NSW, Qld, SA and WA have set off a process that could mark the beginning of the unwinding of the Australian federation.
And the Russians will be ****ing themselves as yet another Western democracy disintegrates.
WA has NO border communities or shared health provider problems like the Eastern States have So how is the closed border adversely affecting your average Victorian ??
BTW Victorians voted for their State government (bureaucrats) nobody from NSW, QLD or WA did so you can't blame anyone else for the government that Victorians chose to run their State.
The WA border closure is NOT a political ploy at all it is a HEALTH precaution that is WORKING very well so why would WA want to jeopardise the health and welfare of the people of the State by opening up the border prematurely.
The WA border closure is a TEMPERARY measure and when it is deemed safe to do so the border Will be reopened, There is absolutely NO threat or intent to damage the Australian Federation whatsoever.
Well ScoMo is talking up a trans-tasman bubble.

To quote..... 'Morrison explained that, "if there's no Covid in Christchurch, and there's no Covid in Queensland, then there's no reason both of them can't come to Sydney."
No, it does not put Sweden in perspective. Even if his manipulation of the terminology is ignored, what he is ignoring in saying it is no worse than flu is are two factors - one is that it is much more infectious than flu (R0 around 3-7 compared to flu around 1.5), meaning that even if the effects were no worse, it would spread to a far larger proportion of the population, much faster, and need a far larger proportion to acquire immunity than does flu. And result in far more deaths. And the more rapid spread would swamp healthcare facilities if unchecked.
The second is that this is an unknown disease (although we are learning), so we do not know what the long term effects are. Death/survival is not a simple dichotomy. Already we are seeing people who have not fully recovered in six months. We have no idea what they will be like in five years, let alone twenty.
Really does not feel any different with our borders closed then it normally does with our borders open [bigwhistle] , the east coast is still way over there and WA is still way over here . I think WA got it rite at the start of this Virus with the Regional Lockdowns dividing WA op into 13 Regions with each internal regional boarder patrolled by the Military & Police , felt like bieng in Siberia at times .
