My wife runs a programme that sends young people overseas, like an exchange programme. A big group of them from Vic, SA and Tas are flying out of Sydney tomorrow. When the Vics arrive in Sydney they're getting a police escort between the terminals - the other groups get to walk by themselves.

Given that some of the Vics may be from outside Melbourne - zero cases - and even if they're from Melbourne, where there's only 80 active cases, it does seem a bit silly.

The Sydney CBD is by all accounts comatose. But then it pretty much was before the pandemic too. It was noticeable that Sydney closes down in the evenings much earlier than Melbourne does.

According to a news item a couple of days ago, all flights from Melbourne are disembarking at the International Terminal. And yes, passengers are greeted by police, who check their paperwork and escort them to either the buses to quarantine or their departure gate, but no changing terminals.

    Covid19 QR barcode sign in

I went to a hospital and tried the Covid19 QR barcode sign in. It downloaded an app on my phone which was a medical appointment tool for business. It may have been the app the hospital was trying to use to record visitors. I partly installed including adding my name and email address. A very similar thing occurred two days ago at a large radiology company. I know them very well and showed the app their QR code tried to install. It was nothing to do with them.

Guess who is getting multiple email and sms to complete my registration(s) Listening to a person in "charge?" suggest the private Covid19 scanning tools are effective had me chuckling.

My tip - If you are asked to use the QR code first ask if they have a privacy policy you can see. Bet the policy if it exists will not cover any of the third party software apps!

My business looked and ran from the idea months ago. I could even adjust the tools to look like it was me. This doesn't follow the

Damn, ND, you should have posted this last week! I visited a mate in the Wesley, in Brissie, and had to QR scan with my phone to get entry to his wing. Being a bit dopey with tech, I never gave privacy issues a thought. I don't appear to be getting any unwanted guff but, it's only been a week!

Yes, I read that story and had similar thoughts. Our data from QR registrations should not be for sale. A national code is needed. However you wouldn't trust the federal government to do it after the debacle of the Covidsafe ap.
