We're in the same boat with our Russia/Nordic trip. I'm looking at it this way: If we do go, all good. If we don't go, I'll take it on the chin and take into consideration that I'll save a lot of money with no overseas dining, taxi fares, tipping, shopping, etc.

No point in panicking or stressing.
Fyi reasonably reliable (for Russia) indication that it is considering closing borders to non resident petmit holders which would impact tourism as such.
Turkmenistan had no cases apparently which is amazing....very poor tourism though..

    "Survival of the fittest"

Apparently medical facilities are told to push elderly to the back of the que to allow younger fitter people treatment first.

Not sure how i feel about this, although i did see it coming. Im good with "first in best dressed" but age based care? Worrying.

Earlier in this thread discrimination was brought up, i wonder if this same treatment is a form of discrimination against the elderly?

Standard triage procedures. When overloaded, allocated resources to those most likely to survive. Something on the order of 30 to 50% of 80+ being admitted are dying despite their best efforts. Giving that one open ventilator to a 50 something has a higher chance of ending up with a live person at the end. It is all statistics. Not a fun job, but it is the reality.

give it a few months and we should have herd immunitity as so many people will have had the virus. The histeria surrounding "another case" is lunacy. The damn virus is/will be everywhere If the majority of people that get it only have mild symptoms... they will not get tested... and will be un-aware they are spreading it. for every person found with the virus we probably have 1,000 that have it that doesn't realise.

Even people that are likely to have it aren't being tested as there isn't enough reagent in the world to test for it either way ( I work in healthcare IT .... the reagent we need is very scarce)

This is all quite fascinating to watch. And will probably be the first of several viruses in our lifetime. I wonder if we will learn from it.

interesting and alarming that the much needed drugs are made in China and India. when they shut down we are vulnerable as there are no back up plans for supply.
Foreign national security would suggest in my opinion, that these countries would supply these drugs to themselves first during extreme shortage and the rest of the world could whistle dixie.

I'm glad you included "fittest", so one would assume young addle headed Druggies would be excluded? Yes, I also think it is discrimination but there a slight chance I may be biased.

I rang my GP as I am having pain in my kidneys yesterday, he was booked out. He ran me to ask Heather to bring a urine sample in this morning I am not allowed to come to see him.
Heather gets there and no one is allowed into the reception area, you have to wait in your car in the car park then they phone you on your mobile when its your turn.
Once you get called the reception staff have bollards and chain preventing anyone getting close to staff who wear masks.
The phones were running hot, the staff said they are inundated with calls re screening which they do not do.
Seems I have another UTI gggrrr , so back on more anti biotics.
