You could be right 4bee. But we do wash regularly - nothing worse than even thinking of wearing a dirty face mask. 🤢

But our stockpile of face masks is also as large as our stockpile of toilet paper.....heh heh. It’s not hoarding OK - just preparation for the apocalypse. I will be getting an old Defender next and the wife has suggested an underground bunker in an undisclosed off-grid location. Corona Virus

I wonder if K&N could come up with a face mask option - get better air flow? Corona Virus

This is the link I was looking for, a relatively easy to follow explanation of how the PCR test performs, and how to make it give you whatever result you want.

This mask works a treat..... because it's designed & built for the job of filtering AND breathing.

    No you can’t.

Only a few years ago Qld was crying for financial support because it doesn’t have disaster funding/insurance and was ruined.

I read a story recently about school principals up here on the Sunshine Coast saying up to a third of their new enrolments for next year are children with Victorian addresses whose parents have decided to head north.

No one gets non emergency surgery now with out a Covid19 test first. Doctors and staff are made a lot safer by that and that isolation after the test is also required here in Melbourne at least.

Add that Shepparton is a example of several Covid cases NOT spreading like wild fire due to the general population there wearing masks. Shepparton outbreak contained to three cases
Sydney might recall a restaurant which did not have a similar low number outcome???

Making mask a political do or die option may impact on the words of Dr Fauci possibly. It is more likely that the supply of masks at that time meant that had everyone it been recommenced every one wear one the existing shortage for urgent health care exposed case would have been a total balls up. I had less than 7 days supplies at the worst supply times for my Doctors and staff. It was a conflicting statement by Dr Fauci possibly to stop a disaster for health care in urgent need of the limited supply at the time?

The seeming witch hunt of that topic makes me chuckle and wonder if it is not considered objectively.

11 Double Doughnuts here again and vaccine news flow looking positive for crazy March 2021 for me.

    Have a great day all.

'er indoors was reading out an article a couple of days ago where it was stated that prolonged Mask wearing can have detrimental side effects because of possible shortness of Oxygen supply through them as the masks get older & fibres get gunked up.
That won’t happen because even the N95 masks don’t form a seal. The fabric and theatre ones that we wear have gaps all over the place. From a hygiene point of view it doesn’t matter, they still work to limit infection.

Looking good for Victorians to have Christmas in Qld, if the good news continues.
No word yet on Sydney though.

The principal in this article suggests a 10% increase in school numbers:

Sunshine Coast sees influx from Sydney and Melbourne during COVID-19 pandemic

Presuming classes of 22 kids that's two or three new kids per class, one of whom may be from Melbourne. Not exactly a flood of people.

For the last 15 years Melbourne's net population increase has been about 80,000 per year - doesn't sound like a lot but it quickly adds up.

In 2000 Melbourne's population was 3,361,000: it's now 4,968,000. That's a 50% increase. Just in the last decade Melbourne has added about a million people: on a global scale that's a significant change.

Back when I bought my house, when I caught the tram to work there might be 2 other people at my tramstop: last year, prior to COVID there'd be about 20 waiting, and that's with significantly more services than we used to have.

Apparently Melbourne's net migration has dropped by 10,000 because of COVID - that's a drop in the bucket compared to the increases over just the last decade.
