On a visit to Ireland back in 1980 we went to a Singing Pub somewhere in Dublin.. What a fantastic informal night we had. Have never forgotten it.
Offset by the driver of the Airport Bus who kept looking in his internal rear view & counting the number of passengers on board all the way to the airport. Apparently he was trying to relate the number of pax to the cash in his money box according to another passenger. Never did find out but the assumption was that he was on the "fiddle"

& trying to get us to pay twice but I did wish he'd kept his eyes on the road & traffic.
Maybe he couldn't count past 8?
Then there was the Plane Strike which would have left us stranded in Dublin for weeks, but on the bus were a nice couple who left the tour early. Odd? Seems he was an executive (in cognito) of the Transport System & he was able to make arrangements for us to board a "Special" flight back to London, so really he made up for the thick bus driver of the Airport Bus. He was doing a tour to check out the facilities around the country. We have also not forgotten his kindness. Guess what the A/C Rego was ***- IRA. Honest! No Kid. It was there on the Wing in green.
We'd go back again but do it leisurely by own transport. But I suppose that ain't going to happen now.

We have an open invitation to visit Ireland, they'll lend us a car, and accommodation provided, [ we looked after one of their sons who came back to visit Aus. after serving in Africa , peacekeeping for the UN.] One day, hopefully. My wife's family came from Tipperary, but the family line originated in Munster. One ancestor drowned in a boating accident at Corop, in 1870. William McCormack.[ blacksmith] born Thules Tipperary, buried next to him is his wife, Julia [ nee Kelly]born Kilmacow [ love that name. ]. Kilkenny. The family put in to have headstones placed and the graves fixed up in 2007. We'll visit Corop one day.
My wife's father was Postmaster at Manly in Sydney, one of nature's gentlemen. Her eldest brother was a bank manager , ended up the ombudsman for the Commonwealth Bank in NSW. Another wonderful man, in the throes of dementia ATM, I used to stir them up about being related to Ned Kelly, thru marriage. [ the old bank manager didn't like that much at all, no idea if Julia was related to Ned , but too good to pass up.] I felt privileged to know the family, wonderful caring people, mostly all gone now. We just have the MT Isa connection, and Balgowlah in Sydney. And an In law in Adelaide, no one talks about him, he ran off with a younger woman. Nothing to do with COVID, this, of course. But hey, much better to talk about.

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food
A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking
