When will the PM, Health Minister, etc, be playing guinea pig and getting the vaccine first? This reminds me of something that happened when I was in the army, we were out camping in the bush for a few weeks, but being supplied meals delivered from our canteen back at base, not eating "rat packs". However a few times we ran out of food, so the Sgt Mjr gave an order that all the troops were to be fed first before the corporals had anything to eat, surprisingly we never had another occurrence of an under order of food!

They were lucky there has been a court case and an appeal by the insurance companies who do not want to pay out on this type of policy. Insurance companies have lost both times but they still keep trying. Seems they never intended the wording to mean what people thought it did.

Not sure if this has already been covered , BUT these people coming back from O/S do they get tested before they hop on the air craft or do the Au Gov just test them on arrival & put into quarantine. The way I see it if they don't have a negative result they don't fly, put's very one else on the flight at risk. I know the test is only as good as the moment you have the test & get infected 5 min's after being tested .
As for all these sports people whinging about having to quarantine what makes them any different to any one else, they are lucky to be able to play there sport & earn a living. If they want to whinge send them home.

The problem with the PM getting the vaccine early is that some people will then demand to know why he is jumping the queue and getting it ahead of more deserving people. Some people are never happy.

Your story of the catering reminds me of a couple of other stories I have heard of clever solutions to problems.

A fireworks factory in Asia has a terrible safety record with frequent explosions and deaths, so the owner insisted that the factory manager's house should be located inside the compound. Apparently there were no more explosions when the manager and his family lived right next to the factory.

A river, I believe in England, was heavily polluted by industries on the banks using water from the river and discharging polluted waste water back into the river. A regulation was put in place requiring the factory inlet to be downstream from the outlet. Apparently that was all that was needed to clean up the river.

EDIT. The people who "don't want to be first" amuse me. Don't they know that even that 92 year old lady in England wasn't the first. There were tens of thousands of people had received the shot before her. They were part of the trial. By the time anyone in Australia get the shot, they won't be the first. They will be several million down the line.

    Oz Open.
I know it's been mentioned multiple times already, but seriously, they are still running this?

Australians are still locked out of their home state and yet an international sports event is going ahead with people testing positive as they come into quarantine.

The Vic State Govt is leaking away the cred they built up with their state citizens IMO.

I did think that there wouldn't be any Insurers that would even touch claims for Covid. No wonder Policies increase to buggery.

Jeeeeezzz Rand you are so naive . They always state "it is to show confidence in the product" & show how the needle doesn't hurt, although it looks long enough to go through one's arm & into the heart. Maybe I won't keep my arm too close to my chest, or use the right arm.

I know, I know, it is a very thin needle.

Certainly nothing to do with "First in Best dressed" Or we are all in this together ****. Heavens to Betsy No.

Sir Humphrey Applebee, "And it is a very good whinge too, if I may say so Prime Minister".

Maybe they could be nuked all over in the hope that radiation can knock off Covid.

Take their pick. Can't say fairer than that.

Is there still a threat from the UK strain

Queensland recorded two new cases of coronavirus on Sunday, both in hotel quarantine and authorities are increasingly confident they've contained the UK strain cluster.
There was just one community transmission case linked to a cleaner from the Grand Chancellor, with the three-day lockdown last weekend considered a success.

A person who works at a Western Sydney hospital is among six new cases of coronavirus in NSW.

The worker did shifts in the cardiology and radiology wards at Concord Repatriation General Hospital whilst potentially infectious last Tuesday to Thursday (January 12-14).

NSW Chief Health officer, Dr Kerry Chant, said officials are contacting staff who worked with the employee, but said they only had 'minimal' interaction with patients.

also a number of staff that have been identified as casual contacts and they're being followed up by the Public Health Unit," Dr Chant, said.

"But the person's role involves minimal patient contact and they also wore a face mask during each of their shifts."

Five of the six new people with the virus live in the same household as the single positive case identified yesterday which was linked to the Berala cluster in Western Sydney.
They include the person's partner and children.
The sixth person is described as a "very close contact" of the family, NSW health officials said.

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking
