No indeed, but it helps everything around it burn real pretty if there’s an ignition source nearby Corona Virus

[QUOTE=4bee;3079155]So the signs one sees around hospitals etc "NO SMOKING. OXYGEN IN USE" are superfluous right?

OXY + Oil? In Trade Training this was always stressed. I never bothered to find out if it was correct or not though I simply believed they knew what they were on about..

    EDIT.
Oxygen under pressure and hydrocarbons (oil and grease) can react violently, resulting in explosions, fire, and injury to personnel and damage to property. Never allow oil or grease to come into contact with oxygen under pressure.

Good enough for me not to mess with it.
Oxygen saturated environments go up really well.
Clothing saturation is a risk at our Oxy Plant.
I’ve seen it flash over electrical controls when their isolation has failed. Not much left.

Oxygen is not combustible itself, but supports combustion. The higher the concentration of oxygen the faster and more ferociously any fuel will burn.
Oxygen is not internationally labelled as a Class 2 Dangerous Goods for no reason.

The point being there needs to be something to 'explode'. What was present in addition to the oxygen leak that was likely to explode that "would have put Beirut to shame"?

Here we go again. Several people who may have been exposed to COVID in hotel quarantine in Sydney have travelled interstate. May have is the operative word, so I guess it's not panic stations yet .

EDIT Once again there is no obvious source of infection. Also breaking news 9 more infected travellers are in SA quarantine hotel.

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

No idea Ferret, I wasn't there, were you? There is plenty on Google about all this. Yer takes your pick.

Quarantine Hotels have proven to be failures from Day1 so lets hope Govts learn from that.. Too many variables & opportunities to break Quarantine it seems to me.

A truck with associated fuel and lubricants. Indian is not a standout nation when the comes to safe working practices, electrical safety or garbage pickup. Any number of fuels and sources of ignition could and probably were in the vicinity.

Re Oxy Tanker leak. yes I saw that & was waiting for a gigantic explosion that would have put Beirut to shame as they ran in & out of the Oxygen Vapour Cloud. Gunga was probably having a gasper as well but no explosion? Amazing, their religion must protect them from that sort of ****. Possibly.

Maybe someone hadn't yet got around to finding an Oily Rag?
The O2 leak was fixed fairly quickly by shutting the valve. But that cut off the oxygen to the patients on ventilators, 22 people killed because whoever connected the bottle didn't tighten the connection properly. The issue with the religious festivals is more of a worry, because the festivals are Muslim festivals, and the Hindu Indian Government is reluctant to use a heavy hand on the people , in case of stirring up Pakistan. A war between India & Pakistan is all the region needs, especially with China on the fringes. All three have nukes, what could possibly go wrong ?

What I find a worry is , that more than once, there hasn't been an obvious source of infection. Once, you could say slack monitoring or such, twice makes you think, any more I wonder if these COVID variants have mutated in how they infect people. What I mean is, are they infectious on surfaces for longer than thought, or more infectious through the air than we thought? I'm sure our health people are right on top of this, if only we could get everyone vaccinated quicker.
