There is some doubt that Henri Charrière actually experienced what he wrote about in Papillon (I read it many, many years ago) .

True. But he was using the medical advice of the time, before antibiotics. Now the disease is regarded as difficult to catch, but easily treated with antibiotics. Have to admit, it made a great scene in the movie with Steve McQueen.
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Australia's only medical mask factory fires up production from 2 million masks a year, to 50 million with new machines. With the help of the ADF. edit. What they have to do now is make sure the government buys masks from them in the future, and not China.

Looking at where you now work and at my experience with ex-Navy plant officers who looked after our aircon, cryogenics, power generating plant, building electrics, hydraulics on 30 metre satellite dishes, etc., and ex-Navy electronics techs when I was in OTC, you ex-Navy blokes (depending on your trade) are highly and multi-skilled and were sought after - ditto with blokes who'd worked in PNG and the Pacific islands. Dunno about stokers, though.

China has, maybe, (according to who you believe) got on top of it, apparently with very draconian measures,.....I'm not sure whether we in Aussie are prepared to accept, or are even capable of, such measures, or even in some cases "do as we're told".
The easiest way to beat the virus is to isolate, stay at home,...the theory is if ya're not infected, if ya stay at home, ya've got a good chance of being ok. That is what I'm doing, I'm staying home. Absolutely boring, a horrible way to spend the day, but the best & safest way for Karen & I.
My belief is that if we don't "isolate" (and all that it means), the consequences for Aussie are unthinkable.

Pickles, please stop. Think of those who may be in a fragile state, they don't need to be pushed over the edge by some ones constant negative thoughts. Thank you.
