And I thought that it was the Queenslanders who were wanting tourism to start up again?
I am pretty sure that every State Wants their tourisim industries back up and running But jumping the gun on this especially with winter on our doorsteps is highly dangerous at the moment.
All the tourist operators are dying to get back to buisness But there is No point in actually dying by prematurely opening the borders and ending the restrictions that have so far kept us relitivly safe so far just to make a few quid.
You only get one shot at life, Aim well

A trip to the metro area (Perth) after the Road block lifting in the Wheatbelt Region was an eye opener and maybe the Road Block should be re-instated , It would appear that people in the Perth Region must think this Virus thing is over and done with as very little social distancing was observed or any sense intelligence in dealing with this virus by Customers at the shopping center we visited .

People in Woolies at the Clarkson shopping center not using the Hand Sanitiser at the entrance and then start handling food items to inspect then putting back on the shelves , not following the Flore distance markers etc , and generally just carrying on like normal with overcrowding and pushing in to be first everywhere .

Problem solved back in the car and out of there back to the Wheatbelt Region , i fail to see how a second wave can be avoided if this is the best people can do . .

WHO has recorded the biggest rise in daily infections worldwide since the pandemic began. I don't mind if QLD keeps her borders closed a little longer, at least until we see the trend in Australia. Also the first use of the COVID tracer has occurred in Victoria. Successfully.
On Monday, Victoria’s tracers identified a positive patient who had the COVIDSafe app on their phone and
allowed authorities to use the data
    .

WHO records highest single-day rise in coronavirus cases worldwide
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

The lack of social distancing is happening in every state.
A good mate on the Gold Coast is constantly gobsmacked at how Qlders aren't taking things seriously.

On the far North NSW coast we haven't had community transmission for well over a month while SE Qld continues to have untraceable positives, yet Qlders can come south but we can't travel north easily.
Actually thousands of people are driving north and south daily, so many live on one side and work on the other and it's a total PITA for them atm

There's a lot of politics still involved in these decisions.
Remember, there's a Qld state election coming up and it looks good for the incumbent Premier to look 'strong' atm, and Qlders are incredibly parochial and will fall in behind her when the big, bad southern states 'bully' them.
In other words it can't hurt her election prospects to indulge in a pseudo barney with NSW and Victoria.

    Cynical, moi? Corona VirusCorona Virus

That seems pretty "normal" unfortunately. It seems as soon as the govt indicated there might be a "easing of restrictions" the place just switched back into "me me me" mode. Having said that, a drive past Bunnings on any weekend when the restrictions were in place would indicate a significant proportion of the population never took it seriously in any case.

wouldn't you be if you lived in the best state?
Parochial is part of our DNA, for obvious reasons.

No mate. Saw/read an article just recently where the writer claimed Desperate Dan of Belts & Roads fame in Vic, has seen the power he holds over people's lives & is very reluctant to hand it back.

Makes sense to me. Now that is being Cynical, Rick.

    Verdict:- doubtful

...likely to fall under such an exception as long as the restrictions imposed by a state are limited to the life of the emergency, tailored to protecting public health and do not single out people's interstate status without good reason.
As stated before, as long as it's non discriminatory to people of other states it's probably fine but as always in these things a court's interpretation is the only interpretation that matters. Until such times ...
