    Better comparitive graphing ?

Here's an Informative and ...'novel'.... way of presenting comparitive information, - with an emphasis on seasons / Times.

COVID-19 - Florence Nightingale Diagrams of UK Deaths - CEBM Here's the graphic :-

    Florence-7.jpg

Showing mortality numbers over several years at different dates. As you can see from the orange peak, they lost a LOT (April) and oddly enough, if you you listen to El Presidente Boris.... they're falling off the perch right now in such numbers they need another lock-down. !

Wonder what a similar graphic would look like for Victoria. ?

Hypocritical Queensland is at it again - after exporting one case of Covid to Newcastle on a ship last week, so it does not appear on their stats, they now are exporting it to Vic via a Townsville woman. Qld Health are claiming the Townsville woman caught it in Vic but testing of the Townsville poo farm shows that Covid is active in that city.

NSW has been the best state in managing the outbreak vs its economy - while it has not stamped Covid out it has developed its systems to jump on it when it pops up as a result low Covid but the employment rate has recovered 70% since the bottom. Qld cannot manage the outbreaks they have (exporting them elsewhere) and employment has only recovered 40%.

Other states are opening up (well not WA but at least they have been consistent) so the irrational knee jerk reactions of Qld need to get with the program and stop blaming everyone else.

NZ tourists will be visiting NSW and some other states, but not QLD so the Qld economy will fall further behind.

I believe that if we stand back from the news cycle, use the time & space to examine the presented evidence - especially progressive uncovering of bare-faced lies, mis-truths, and 'Never wasting a crisis' (Churchill) to increase power, wealth and influence... we can ponder as to "WHO" might be behind all of this.
I'll start by suggesting these kind souls are likely villains...

NSW has failed to suppress the virus and is now recording more cases than Vic.
NSW Premier GladysB says NSW is on the edge of another spreading event. So I wouldn't get too cocky down there.
Why isn't NSW requiring masks on public transport and in small enclosed spaces?
Qld hasn't had a locally transmitted case for over 30 days and life is relatively normal up here, thanks to state border controls, social distancing and hand sanitation.
The Qld economy is doing relatively well. The main negative is that national border controls are preventing Kiwis coming to Qld, even though Qld is safer than NSW.
The latest case went to Melbourne and tested positive three days after arriving there, so it seems reasonable she got it in Melbourne.

Don't count on too many NZ tourists arriving on Oz shores...we have to go into quarantine upon return to NZ, and rightly so, at a cost of $4k and 2 more weeks off work to add to the holiday.

I like they have stopped to find out the issue(s). The bugger is i would love to see a few of these sail on and give us an effective and safe vaccine as quickly as possible. CSL's share price has gone up a lot. Not sure which ones its is trying. I think they have at least two one of which is a Australian Baby. Its appearing likely the date for any possible vaccine is mid 2021. Had the improbable dream of a vaccine tested and safe and also ready for 2020 there would have been no complaints from me

For the Anti Vaxers. I was just listening to a gent who mentioned when at primary school at least one child in every class was in Calipers due to Polio. He was one of the first to get the vaccine in 1956. They then vaccinated the kids and did not have enough for mums and dads at that time. The impacts of polio are still felt today for an unfortunate few. .

    • Polio vaccines were introduced in Australia in 1956 (Salk) and 1966 (Sabin) and were followed by mass immunisation programs. With the continuing immunisation of children, the disease will be eradicated in Australia as well as in other parts of the Western world. It is estimated that a minimum of 20,000 – 40,000 people had paralytic polio in Australia between 1930s and 1960s. Actual figures for the number of people infected with the virus are up to a hundred times greater, 2 – 4 million Australians.
    • While polio no longer threatens Australian society today, it is not forgotten. Thousands of Australians are now experiencing what is known as the late effects of polio or post-polio syndrome (PPS).
    • The late effects of polio are a set of unexpected new symptoms occurring some 30 – 40 years after the initial infection

That organisation is not a reliable source of information.

Thats because Qld ships their cases off to NSW by ship and to Vic by air - so it is just a coincidence that the woman comes from Townsville and Townsville has unreported cases of Covid that show up in the sewerage - yeah right

And if ACT followed Qld lead - the ACT should now declare Qld a hotspot because the Qld lady who came from Townsville and pooed up there got off the plane at Canberra and possibly spread her germs around here.

sadly it was a feature in late 1980s when I was working in african refugee camps... along with cholera, typhoid, Onchocerciasis among others, but not sure even if I could transport the anti vaxxers back to that time to see it whether it would any difference to their thining as we appear into a time where there is too much amygdala response and not enough frontal cortex use.
